I know this is about armors, but please, if the trend in EU hasn't caught on--USE A FUCKING LIGHT LANCE AS A HOPLITE. It is the best weapon for Hoplites IMO and most others that have played the class and have somewhat of a decent IQ.

I used to run light lance on my hoplite alt, its a nice weapon. I found that it suffered a lot due to the turn speed, although i really have no idea how that is these days.

Not bad at all. I found that the hitbox on the lance feels larger and longer than other hoplite polearms so I can still get those face stabs with minimal turning. I did great with it, and a lot of people do really well with the weapon as a Hoplite.

I disagree, -3 pierce and -2 speed compared to the ashwood for +9 range. Hah, Your IQ fails you.

I have to say that I disagree, not with what is or is not the "best" hoplite weapon, but with the idea that people should just go off and use the "best" item in a given class or sub-class. That leads to really boring servers.

In my defense, I see the Light Lance hardly ever used by Hoplites. I've had both MW Asswood and MW Tight Lance, they're both decent. However, one thing that needs to be recognized by the Light Lance is its ability to couch as well. It is great if you want to throw even 3 riding into your polearm build and use it as a lance from horseback + couching it. Then, when you fall or get taken off, you don't need to switch weapons if you're a decent hoplite.

I like both, but Light Lance is definitely better IMO. It too often gets overlooked as a viable option and those that I've convinced to switch have found a vast improvement. It's not for everyone, but it's definitely worth a shot.
