Title: How do you aim?

I am curious again, because I've started using xbow hybrid and I got used to aim from the third person. But! Many people say that the first person aiming is better because straight POV, shooting through objcets and so on. Thanks in advance  :wink:

Depends on the situation. In battle third person and at siege first ( if you shoot from the wall down).

I always shoot in first person, makes aiming ALOT easier. It maybe just because i'm not used to third person shooting. First person shooting gives you better sight for people infront of you but you may get ganked a lot if you don't look around you. So you don't have as much awareness with first person.

3rd person, always, no exception. Sticking to one option only makes it easier to internalize arrow ballistics and 3rd person has obviously the advantage of showing whats going on around you. After some time you wont notice the reticule offset anymore.

1st person if I'm stationary, 3rd if I'm moving. Always remember to set your FoV to 105 degrees for maximum headache safety.

3rd person! Just aim slightly above the target, and you get full view around you :D

I am not actually a good aimer and mainly get most of my hits by chance

It's not you, it's archery. The 2h heroes have gotten their wishes almost granted (almost because archery is still in the game).

Regarding aiming, I use 3rd person for far away shots, but switch to 1st often, especially when behind some sort of cover or when the enemy approaches (I dont run, I use a 1h+shield as melee)

3rd person only. I used to go back and forth but I just stick to 3rd now. It works pretty well. I'm getting better at using an arb. Its fun as hell plus I can actually melee. Makes me wonder what would have happened had I done this instead of being an archer for 7 or so gens.

Allmost in 1st person.
I sometimes use 3rd person when someone is hunting me, it feels easier in some situations, especialy when you have to shot someone in close range quickly.

I've tried both. What I settled on as "best":

Bow, 3rd person zoomed out
Throwing, 3rd person zoomed all the way in -1 click

This was pretty much exactly what I was going to post. I always use third person in ranged. The extra field of vision offsets the "penalty" of having to adjust your aim. If you do it for even 1 gen, you will adjust to the offset "wrong" aim that third person provides. I feel that it's actually easier to keep the aim on your target when the reticule is above them, instead of obscuring them.

I rarely go to first person if I am reloading behind a wall. It lets you see through the terrain if it is thin enough. This is not an exploit or bannable.

It is no secret, I have used 2 throughout a few gens:

Both quite viable, the second one to get even more close and personal even when shooting, and the first one to keep distance and mobility.

With the 15/21 I usually use horn bow, some arrows, military cleaver and knightly kite shield or heavy round shield while wearing medium armour (mail hauberk, straw hat, leather gloves and some boots like rus cav), and with the second one I change between the kit above and rus+arrows+cleaver+buckler.

With these builds you feel slightly UP (compared to 18/21 (or 24) pure builds), but it is quite fun

3rd person most of the time (note that I still use the old client, so no advanced FOV control)
+shift-key'ing gives me enough zoom, just in case I want to hit a specific ass instead of doing the right archer thing:  firing into crowds of melee whiners ;-)

1st person only, if I am trying to shoot through a small window or something like that. Or for intense lulz and epic deaths.

I like a lot shooting at moving people far away, and I have a better feeling for leading etc. in 3rd person.

Plus my battle awareness is crap anyways, so in 3rd person I do not get murdered THAT often by some melee pussy sneaking up to me...

I never aim cause i'm not able to aim anything correctly : A player , a bot or a tree no way whatever my choice first or third person. Sometimes i succeed to aim accurately the sky hit box or a wall but not more.

That s why i don't play a lot archer.

Personally i use 3rd person with maxed out FOV, i like to have as much battle awearness as i can. When i am a defender on siege on the walls i use 1st person + shift key, im more accurate that way
