Title: Compass on the UI
Post by: Dalfador on February 16, 2013, 05:30:14 am
A small rotational compass perhaps...? You could point out directions to teammates instead of:

"he's by the house"

"which house"

"the one with the door and windows"

"..."

Yes yes yes!!! This would help so much in things like Strat battles. Just a nice little HUD compass in a corner.

there are some siege castles where, when you defend the flag, you look away from the enemy spawn. This often makes people get confused.
might be epic to be able to say:

"west wall, enemies incoming"

No.... that's the good thing about warband. You need to play a bit, to learn how maps look like... In native we gave all places a name (like archway, middle, left/right ruins, village, small hill on ruins map), on all native maps (6 or 7) and by some practice everyone new the place's name by heart. ;)

This, like showing banners for enemy players, would be a step in the wrong direction. A bit to ruin the game.

But.. cRPG has a load of shit random maps. All the maps look exactly the fucking same a lot of the time because in M&B you have to use the exact same type of SMs in all maps. I really hope M&B2 has a much more advnaced map making editor.

Don't tell me you don't know all maps in crpg? Even if its orange mars weather, theres not a problem to notice what map you play on. :)

I never thought of that! Also, perhaps adding the native singleplayer "backspace" map function would be a great way to implement this.

Please don't kill ninjas and sneaky tactics by implementing this. A small indicator that is unintrusive and shows N/NE and the rest would be fine, but this would kill the mod for me

Well, it would only be logical to have it for teammates only ...

why dont we add a big announcement on your screen that indicates when a HRE blitzkrieg is moving towards the flag via the unprotected backladder??

I would be very pleased to at least have a little red arrow pointing North at all times.

I remember a time in siege when I called '' THEY ARE STORMING OUR RIGHT!!!''

just to see I indicated the wrong right and the team stacked on the wrong side... oups

I remember the sieges when I was shouting "Defend the fucking flaaaaaaaaag!" (or sth like this) from the early begining of the round and then we lost it in like 30-50 secs cuz ppl are too busy protecting the walls, the most important objective in siege mode...

Here's the ready code (It needs a little reworking as it's tuned by map which is not suiting crpg)
http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,157152.msg3778812.html#msg3778812

If devs are up to implement it - I can make a decent model with textures for it.

Actually the textures and so are already in game, and it is used in the siege beta to point towards the nearest flag.
It might only need a bit of tweaking to bring it to battle. No idea though

In BF2:PR we have a small compass at the bottom of the screen all the time. It also shows where the CO marker is (similar to battalion flags in crpg). Helps teamwork a lot.

(click to show/hide)
