Title: The Official Latency/Ping Issues Thread (EU) [NEW TEST]
Post by: Nessaj on February 15, 2013, 07:38:45 pm
NEW TEST.

In order to further investigate the ping problem for Europeans we need the following:

Two (2) tests consisting each of a Ping Plotter image ( http://www.pingplotter.com/download.html (http://www.pingplotter.com/download.html) )

The first test has to be when you are not having latency/ping problems and the second when you are experiencing latency/ping problems.

You can post one of the tests and the other later but edit your post to include both instead of making two posts.

Those who already made posts can make new ones with the Ping Plotter images. Leave the old tracerts and pings.

Perform both tests on this IP:

Your post should include the following additional information:
Your post should look something like this:
Country: Germany
ISP: Telia Internet
Type: ADSL
Bandwidth: 10mbit/5mbit

Issues:

No issues:

Don't mind the PL (Packet Loss) -- This is not actually a problem/mistake, since not answering test packets is normal for routers. Depending on the configuration of the router it will route packets but only reply to test packets if there is enough free computing power. As long as the following hops don't also show packet loss there is no cause for concern.

Sorry, it's in Turkish but in the tracert screenshot, the part that says 'istek zaman aşımına uğradı' stands for 'request timed out'. Thought I should note it.

Just a reminder: this is not the "game feels sluggish" thread, it's the thread about a very specific ping/latency issue. If you don't have that, you shouldn't post.

Edit: if it wasn't clear, OP is still valid: either post your traceroute/ping or don't post.

Really hoping for a solution to this issue soon, haven't been able to play properly during active hours for a very long time. Having a high ping you can get accustomed to but when it jumps from 40 to 70 to 233 at random intervals it makes playing impossible.

Thank you for your time.

For some reason this issue has become increasingly worse for me the last two weeks; now I am not even able to find a time of day where my ping is anywhere near stable.

Last few weeks it's been pretty much unplayable with 120 at best and jumping between that and 200. Ping has been unstable for about month or two, but never this bad before.

when i tought problems were all solved (before db migration) suddenly some italian pings got higher (after db migration)
Country : Italy
ISP : Fastweb
Time : 19:00 - 19:20 GMT+2

(click to show/hide)

don't know what you've done with the server but when i get stable latency it's like 50+ when before migration was a stable 32
when i have ping issues i get 100+

i speak for all Fastweb customers , they all have this problem.

DB migration has nothing to do with the game server. It's still the same issue as before.
