I believe that if you do not have default armor set, you won't be able to choose any armor to use when you come into a server. You should try setting up default armor and see if that helps.

ya is this a bug? cuz its quite annoying to leave the server and come back to change gear, making u lose ur multi...

Reminds me of the pre-server update days...where you had to leave the server to level up! Ah that was so fun!
