Title: Best Sword For Swashbuckler

I'm not sure if I named my class accurately but anyways. I'm wondering which sword to use. My build is 36/3 using just a one hander without a shield. It's mainly a sit back and relax build.

These are the swords i'm contemplating on using....

Arabian Cavalry Sword
Long Espada Eslavona
Italian Sword

I'm wondering which one out of the three I should use. I like swords with long reach and good cut damage. Suggestions welcome!

NCS or ACS.

I don't think a 36/3 swashbuckler build is going to be as fun as you think it is going to be.

Being a swashbuckler requires someone to be somewhat agile.... if not then he is just a 1h wielding beef cake.

I see well I kinda like one shotting people who don't expect it. But I think the best way to figure out what sword to use is personal experience. But I sill would like suggestions for fun to use swords.

So far the long espada eslavona is my fav right now mw its 31 pierce and 30 cut.

Have you tried the Niuweidao, Liuyedao, or Military Cleaver? I would suggest against using any 1h oriented towards thrusting until the dynamic turn speeds go live on NA, as the thrust is currently a situational attack at best and is prone to glancing without perfect execution.

I'd say your high powerstrike benefits most from a high cut 1h, NCS is my favourite, atleast until you get new turnrate values. I might roll a 36/3 swashbuckler build myself on a skip the fun one of these days, sounds rather impossible to play.

in siege it should be viable, i always like 1h animations in clusterfucks, and you dont really need the speed on siege, i think.

Totally worhless built for battle though, you'll be an easy target for cav.

I like the simple sword aswell, and it's cheap. :D

Shashka, completely underrated sword, with similar values to NCS :D

Just way better looking with the heirloom patch...

hmm, i'll give it another shot then, i would like to add that i did like it on horseback, it's probably my second choice after arab cav sword for horseback use. :) 103 length, oof!

Military cleaver is pretty boss in swashbuckler mode, Voester wrecks with his +3. I use a +3 Mil Cleaver also, with only 6 PS, and I'm always amazed how many people it 1-shots. With 12 power strike, it should be pretty nasty. Although with 1 athletics, everyone will just backpedal you.

36/3 works fine with 2h/pole, since you have reach. It could work on a swashbuckler, you just have to be patient.

I might switch up my build if I don't like it after retiring. I find myself not being backpeddled unless its a poleaxe user. But that still isn't a problem. Yes this build is horrible for field battles. Siege is where I play the most so str stacks unite.

Below is from a thread I have going... was asking a similar question, as to which weapon to use... however, my build was for a 1-hand Shielder.  I too, was looking for a weapon with decent length.  I have horrible footwork and timing.  The extra length seems to help... not sure why (my thoughts on why this may be in the quote below).  You may have good footwork... but with only 3 AGI, it won't matter.  So we may be looking for a similar weapon.

All that to say, I think I've settled on the ACS.  Packs a punch (33-cut Slashing damage).  Not sure what the MW version does... has to be killer!  Hope that helps.

I play the same thing as u. Mainly use 1h without shield, but I also carry a cheap spear and shield with me for logical reasons really. 24/15 currently with 8PS. And it is a pretty durable and fun character thats really good for mostly all situations. I went for the MW langes messer and I simply love this thing. With 35 swing damage, good speed and lenght(for 1h) and sexy looks it has swinged its way into my heart.

I wouldnt recommend the long Espada thou. Its a crappy overly expensive sword thats only got badass stab...which is a painful thing to pull off as 1h. But if you like using it, who am I to judge. Just saying that its lame swingdamage will anger you eventually.

NCS for low armor and duel 1h,military hammer as side weapon vs poleaxe users so they can't stun you

If you like the Espada Eslavona, try the Italian Sword, Broad Short Sword and Side Sword. They all do decent cut with a strong thrust as well.

but if you must use a sword i would suggest arabian guard sword. fast and long and has good cut damage, pierce is fine especially if your going high PS build

I haven't used the AGS.  Seems very similar to the Italian Sword.  AGS has 1 less speed, but gains 2 length.  Same swing damage, but the AGS has 5 less stab damage.  May not be a factor since stabs are hard to pull off.  And the AGS is slightly cheaper than the Italian Sword.

Would have definitely tried the AGS if I hadn't found my niche with the Arabian Cavalry Sword.

yeah i had a mw arabian cav sword and it was good just wasnt for me, seemed to glance a crap ton

Last generation I went 27-12, 2 shield skill, 9 ps and if, with no WM. Worked out really, really well. The low weapon weight really makes up for the 4 ath, and at 9PS you'll 1shot some people.

Used the knightly arming, military cleaver and soldier's cleaver throughout the gen. My favorite was the soldier's cleaver, but all of them were amazing. Really the shield was only for fighting more than 3 people at once and ranged.
