Voice Chat/ Commands..............I hated the idea from the very beginning.............but its worse than I ever could imagine........I cant even hear a horse behind me because every peasant screams ATTACK.
Or peasant 1 ATTACK, peasant 2 FALL BACK, peasant 3 HOLD YOUR GROUND, not to forget all those annoying wannabe commanders that demand to follow them.
Please,
either give us one commander back, based on xp or whatever, and voice commands only for the commander but not for everyone.
or give me the chance to disable/ mute it........green text okay if it has to be but not that annoying voices all the time.
I guess Strategus would be different because players are at least somehow disciplined there but in crpg its horrible, for real.
-
I agree, I think it's pretty pointless.
-
it's funny that people whine about the voice chat.
because you enable it if you use the voice command yourself once.
Dont't press q, don't hear it.

I'm pretty sure everyone has used it atleast once.
:EDIT: Also, we are not whining. Some people wish you would fix the problems instead of making pointless add-on's.
-
How works "Whistle"? Do it really call my horse to me or it is just whistle sound?
-
I agree. The voices are very annoying and should be removed ASAP or if possible be limited to a commander.
-
I Think the voice chat is funny :D
-
the voice commands themselfs r awesome specially FALL BACK (SPACE MARINES!)^^
but there should be nice LONG cool down so no one could spam it
(thers been lot less spamming em tonight than last night when it was stil new and shiny :D)

what?
don't press q, don't hear the voices.
Problem fixed, no?
-
People just want to be on the "whine about _______" wagon.
-
I, for one, accept our new voice commanded overlords
-
But... "UTTAAAAACC" is the Peasent's way of communicating to other Peasents...
-
I'm looking forward to the implementation of the community made voice packs (especially George's voice pack).

Yes! Siege is fixed now, so if I could have Tholgar's voice pack instead of typing all the time, I'd consider cRPG a completed game.

What? I used to press Q to whistle to warn dreaming teammates since ages.............so you say when I dont press Q I dont have to hear it?
Okay, sounds fair, will let them die when they are not aware not my fault.
Thanks for answer, didnt know how it works.
-
If you dont like them you should be able to replace them by empty soundfiles.
-
That is true, you can replace them.
It would make more sense however if there would be one commander instead of 50.
On the other side you can't expect players in public games to follow the orders of someone else, so maybe it is good as it is.
The voices should be made "better" though, specially the "Fall back" :)
I also think they are a bit too loud right now.

That is just awesome. Sounds like a good system, more so if it resets every round

I love the voice commands.
Like a few days ago, i was doing tactics: i just led the team to a nice high hill and planted the flag on top. Then i used the voice command 'Hold your ground'. Seconds later my command was echo'd by other players in the team, repeating 'Hold your ground' around me. And my team stopped.
So it works, it's functional and yes, it can be annoying to some. But hey, i really love it. It makes it more epic. :D
-
God Isnt chadz so witty and keen? Ah my hero..
-
Question : is there ability to change keys for voice commands? I use "Q" key to change the weapon and can't whistle without weapon change.
-
try changing to your middle mouse wheel .
-
bah, poppycock, this is useful and it adds immersion. So stop whining.
-
This is how it will be
1. Highest experienced players name will be shown at the beginning of each battle in BIG WORDS saying "players name is commander"
2. His commands will only be enabled. other players response commands are only enabled (example Hurraahhh!!)
3. Extra xp points are rewarded by following commands
4. Voting polls against commander, for new commander with next best experience level

I like the voice commands. It really is like some sort of primitive form of communication. A few people will come up with a plan via chat messages, then go someplace and defend the area.
One or two people (the planners, from the chat) say "Stand your ground!" like in Phazey's example. Soon everybody's shouting the same thing like a bunch of seagulls. There's no better way to let everybody know what to do than to have half the team scream the same thing over and over again. It's a good way of getting a gauge of a group's agreement/disagreement of a strategy.
Plus it's awesome to be defending a spot (everybody screaming "Stand your ground!"), then all of a sudden, at the right moment, I rush foward screaming "Attack!" in a high-pitched, nasely voice. My team echoes my voice command, and I know they're in agreement. Then we all rush out and die.

+1 to you sir,
-
I like the voice commands and find them very useful.
-
Now give us the sister of battle voices for female characters.
ENEHMEHS OF TEH EMPERAHAUM NOEH OAR FUREH!
-
One commander=Roleplay
I support it.
-
Yes, we need a 'DEFEND! voice comand. BTW, i can record myself saying strong words in...spanish, if you still searching for taunts. Anyway, i'll record myself for the lulz. Just give time.
