In the video the guy realizes that they're out of beer and he runs to get some more. Dropping a towel doesn't really matter when you're out of beer, but he forgot his wallet in sauna and yelled "PERKELE!" and ran back to get it.

Perkele is a common curse word, but it can also mean a god.

As a god:
Perkele also known as Perkunas(in the baltic area+germany) is the god of thunder. Don't mess him with thor. It's an old pagan god.  Finns used more(and still do) the name "Ukko Ylijumala" for Perkele(we Finns like to give our own names to everything), but Perkele was also used.

As a curse word:
One of the most common Finnish curse words, mainly meaning "Devil" but probably easiest to translate to "God damnit / damnit". When Christianity took over the old pagan religions, people started to use the word perkele as a devil (however in Finnish, Devil=Paholainen). This is because even though it was a still a god, it was a false good according to Christianity (because in Christianity you have only one god, and all the other gods are devils).

Perkele is used more as a curse word. A lot of Finns don't even know that Perkele is actually Ukko Ylijumala.

Pretty much. Finns don't speak, and when they do they're so drunk they start talking about how their wife left them and how the bank took his apartment and how his dog died from alcohol poisoning.

You mean those guys who learned combat from propaganda pages and cheap ass movies, use old aged equipment, march with mean faces and who really havent seen any modern day combat whatsoever and im pretty sure that dont even know what the world acctually looks like. Yeah, you can become a saint by going all kind of weird shit... Come on, anyone can kill a half salmon half snake, it's nothing that special. One specie gone extinct.

In Finland we have this Saint Henrik. A priest on a crusade to Finland around late 1200's. Henrik and his companions stopped by a farmhouse, took all the food and beer, and left without paying. The "man of tha house" wasn't home then, but when he got back and heard what had happened. He took his axe. Went after Henrik and killed him. That's how Henrik became a saint. For for being a priest who robbed a house and got murdered because of it.

Ole hyvä!=You're welcome!
Pyydän!=I ask! or I beg!
Ole kiltti!=Be nice!

In Swedish/Norwegian/Danish they don't have either a direct word for "please", however they use word "kind" for it. In finland a word for "kind" is "kiltti", however we don't use it to replace "please". We just simply don't have anything for it.

In reality we are self loathing 24/7. "We are not nice enough to foreign people", "We are always so quiet and it sucks", "Our methods in this and that are not good. We should take a look what Sweden does and copy it even if they do it worse" etc...

Haha, that sums it up perfectly. Just flat landscape and plain forest. If you end up in Helsinki you'll have to drive 1000 km up north to find first hill.

And I agree with Everkistus, Norway has so much more beautiful nature, just check out lofoten for example.

Actually I know none, they make always black metal cuz death metal is for "posers" :D. If you know some good death metal from Norway, plz tell me. Translation(or something like it at least):

Strange mysteries of the world:

A Finn who gladly goes to sauna, which has +100C, spending there even two hours. Melts in 15 minutes when it's +30C outside.

I've actually wondered this myself. Especially that I was in Rhodes last week. I just didn't get used to the heat, not at all. And now that I'm back and it's +20, I still can't take it xD.

Depends on the brand and also how much it has alcohol in it. Btw when you're turning krs to euros just put one more zero to the end of it. The course chances within a week from 1euro=9kr to 1euro=11kr. It's just much more simple to put 10kr = 1euro.

Well Koff III (0,33cl 4,5%), can = 1,84euro and bottle = 1,52euro. And this is one of the cheapest drinkable beers.

It's hard to check out the actual prices from the net so I checked this price from Alko (place where they sell above 5% alcohol stuff). I personally prefer Sandels 4,7%. 4x 0,5l costs around 15e.

Eukonkanto (wife carrying)
Saappaanheitto (welly/boot throwing)
Vedenalainen jääkiekko (underwater ice hockey)
Kännykänheitto (phone throwing)
Mutafutis / Suopotkupallo (mud football)
Saunakilpailu (Sauna competition)

There might be others but at this point people are too damn drunk, so it really doesn't matter.

Perhaps there was a surviving Plesiosaur population in Finland's distant past to facilitate the synthesis of this legend. The world's oceans are so vast, taking up over 70% of the earth surface. Makes me think of what could lurk in the less well known places of the earth.

However last monday when I was installing water pump on Lake Inari (Northern Lapland) it begun to snow. It was windy (as always on lake/sea) and around 0C. Also my hands and hoody sleeves were wet among with my shoes. The pump was 50m from the shore and you couldn't see the shore as it was snowing so hard. Now for a brief of a second I kinda missed the +20C. Only a brief of a second though.

ah, still too hot in Germoney, I wish we had finnish weather here !  :D

Are you made of ice and u are melting? J/k, i prefer chilly weather too.  btw summer temperature in southern Scandinavia shouldn't be much different than central Europe. I think that most of Scaninavian people  live in the south of Scandia ( also most of the bigger cities  are in the south: Oslo, Stockholm, Helsinki, Gothenburg etc..)

Temperature of some cities  of Northern and central Europe in summer  -   1st column is June, 2nd is July, 3rd is August   . the 1st line (horizontal) is average high temperature, 2nd line is daily mean, third line is average low temp

As you can see ( if wikipedia is correct) the average temperature difference is just few Celsius degrees.  Paris during summer  seems to be the  warmer of the cities i posted, Paris also has a population of 10+ millions people (Smog?asdasd)
If you want a significant lower temperature in summer, i think you have to  go up north (like Lapland maybe), or in the mountains.

Temperature of the province where i live, by mountain (in this case) they mean an altitude around 2000 meters, I dunno why they omitted that part in the English version

Finnish is actually neither =) It is commonly classified as a Finno-Ugric language. However (IMO) it is best to describe it as an unique language. Due to the difference in Finnish and the closest language to it, is still huge.

Also about the weather. Currently it is somewhere in +25 - +30 in whole Finland. This summer and especially the late July and early August have been extremely hot.
It does get over +25 every summer (usually at least) however not as often as this summer.
I spent both June and July in Northern Lapland (working as a plumber) and the 1st week of June there was the warmest in whole Finland. On the second week it snowed/sleeted a bit (I was on Lake Inari installing a waterpump when it started to snow... xD I wasn't able to properly see the shore which was 50m away from the boat. It lasted only around 5 to 10 minutes, but still). Last few weeks of July it was just as hot in North-Lapland as in South-Finland. In Utsjoki(North-Lapland) it got to somewhere around +32 few weeks ago.

And yes we Finns are made of ice

Yes i know that Finnish is a  Finno-Ugric language,  i guess  i should have said "Finnish imo is the best language among the official languages spoken in Scandinavia/the Nordic countries", or i should have just said "Finnish imo sounds much better than Danish,Swedish, Norwegian"  :)

Lol, 30 degrees celsius would be considered cold here in the southern united states (Texas), where in a normal summer day the temperature does not drop below 38 degrees. Even now it is still in the high 30's

lol, someone doesn't know how to read charts. That's the average temperature all year (I should mention that in the winter it drops to around -5 degrees celsius). If you actually clicked on a city you would see that in the summer months the high is around 36 degrees celsius. Which isn't really correct anyway, it is usually much much hotter than that. lol, someone doesn't know latitudes and their effect on temperatures. Surely because the US and Europe lie on fairly comparable latitudes the weather is reasonably similar. Besides, -40 degrees isn't even very badass compared to -30 or even -40 degrees which the on-topic Fins endure. Also, no you wouldn't know because you aren't a scientifically valid thermometer.

what? I didn't say -40 I said 40 degrees. unless thats a typo

If you were trying to say how cold finland is, true, it gets very cold there. but we have cold winters in america too. but the difference between american weather and european weather is that it actually fluctuates from testicle-numbingly cold to scorching hot. meanwhile, most europeans have never even been in an environment that doesn't have a calm 20-25 degree all year climate.

Highest average high of Spain, 36.4 degrees Celsius, highest average high of Texas, 37.5 degrees Celsius. The difference isn't stellar, you're not that special.

37.5 degrees lol, that would be a cold summer day here in dallas. You really have never been to the 'states, have you? I would like to know which graph or chart you are looking at to get such backwards information. You don't have try too hard though, I understand it might be hard due to your sub-par european education   :(

Highest average high of your dear city is a mere 35.5 degrees Celsius. If your education taught you that going somewhere is in any way helpful to your ability to look up weather averages, then your education must have been truly top notch. Perhaps they will one day even teach you that thermometer that is hanging in the sun outside isn't a reliable tool for scientific measurements.

No, you said that 37.5 degrees Celsius is a cool summer's day, while the fact is that 35.5 degrees is the average summer's day in the hottest month of summer, which means your statement was bullshit. Astonishing how you are dissing European education when you only brought forth subjective arguments that are in no way useful or comparable. All the empirics I have brought forth have refuted your retarded statements, so you keep retreating with your next statement and now you have thrown it on your 'feels'? Your original statement was that pansy-ass Europeans don't know shitty weather like we do, and now it is 'it feels really hot in Dallas, lel XDXDXD'. I could compare humidity levels of a place like Sevilla to Dallas, but I don't feel it is worth the effort and further derail.

It's because advanced USA weather team only show temperature according to feels. Actually that makes sense because humidity and wind are very important too.

The only guy, a murican, chosen1 could make me +1 Thomek. Someone make a mark somewhere so that people after 500 years know what this murican, the chosen1 did.

Honestly, my hatred towards Thomek is beyond human comprehension. I honestly meant every fucking word what I said sometime ago(Thomek you muted for it, so you know what I'm talking about). And yet, this guys, a murican, the chosen1 shows so pure form of stupidity that it made me +1 Thomek. I won't start repeating Teeth, just read his posts and you'll see the reasons for this "stupidity" that I'm talking about
US has roughly population of 320million people, but still chosen1's behavior, attitude, use of words and so on is mostly what comes to my mind when talking about a stereotypical "american".

Anyone remembers the HBO miniseries The Band of Brothers (it's awesome, btw)? The part when they were in Bastogne? It gets around -5C in there, and the soldiers suffered from serious frostbites and were dying because of coldness. The UK alerts its Army when it gets to -10C (don't start bullshitting that it don't, it just did it few winters back, or was it even last winter).
-In Finland we put babies to sleep on the balcony when it's -10C.

The ice bucket challenge.
-In Finland during winter (with nowadays technology we can simulate this "avanto" in swimming halls) we cut a hole in ice on a frozen lake/sea and go swimming. This is considered to be relaxing and normal, not a challenge (it really is relaxing, I highly recommend it). Some of us even play a sport called underwater ice hockey.

In Finland it doesn't matter how much it snows, you still need to go to school. In UK the whole country stops at 10cm snow.
In Finland it doesn't matter how cold it is, you still go to school. The only difference is that in the kindergarten and in elementary school, during recess you don't need to go outside to play. When I talk about "cold" I don't mean "-5C", I mean -30C - -50C.

In Japanese subway, people pretend look at their phone or pretend to sleep to avoid eye contact. They are pretty skilled at resting their head on the arm that is grabbing the bar. And each stop has its own ringtone so they dont need to open their eyes to know where they are.

In France, you can make eye contact but it's a declaration of war.
