Title: Rage polls

Rage polls or polls without a good reason are something that has been plaguing EU community for too long. On NA side rage polls are almost not happening when we compare them to us (EU side).

My suggestion how to fix this issue is very simple. Severe punishment for those who do it. Make bans for rage polling long and painful. Also, never forget to ban if a player don't explain himself. If he doesn't speak english that is his own problem and should think before he decides to break the rules.

Polls are almost always disabled on NA servers...would be better to have them disabled on EU as well (unless no admins are on of course)

Which, sadly, is pretty much 80 to 90% of the time these days :-(
Might change though since Erzengel is a trial admin atm and quite often plays siege, so fingers crossed he keeps up the good work and stays around for some banhammer action :)

Move NA and stay there (or quit the NA vs EU thing). I get also pissed at the ppl who use those polls without any good reason, but even more I'm annoyed when an admin forgets to turn them on when he leaves. When a poll doesn't go through there should be option to ban-/kickpoll the person who started the original poll.

I didn't say that polls should be turned off, I said that rage pollers should stay banned for a long time, to serve as example.

Just make it so that if the poll wasn't accepted, the poll starter gets kicked/banned instead  :mrgreen:

Right time for polling someone who th/tk you on purpose in battle = start of the round. That way everyone can see when you write the poll reason. Also remember to press M.

Right time for kick poll against someone who is delaying battle = very end of the round (obviously).

QML leechers or report to an admin or pick a good timing for the poll.

Always remember to state the reason!!!

Should be pretty clear, huh? (If you are not sure then make a ban request or ask an admin.)

If not, then prepare to be kicked/banned yourself.

Just one more thing. Polling is probably the worst form of griefing because it affects the whole server not just those who are in vicinity of a griefer. That's why it should be severely punished.

Rage polling is usually done by new players, and i think the reason its more common on EU is because so many seem to have so fucking poor english skills.
Im guessing they dont understand the rules.

However after some curses and threats they usually learn their lesson and join the community.
Try beating them a bit or doing a counterpoll against them, that kind of lesson works as well.

Favk you man! :evil: One thing I hate more than a constant randompoll makers is shithead counterpollers. Its like calling a gay person gay for analbuttrape and than teaching him a lesson by analbuttraping him, which turns into a disqusting scene that noone likes to watch. Never counterpoll. Let the little ragepoller make his one tiny poll and than not get to use it for a while, its not so annoying. Counterpoll him and it turns annoying as hell.

The cRPG community isn't mature or responsible enough to handle polls, regardless of admins being on or off, or people being punished for it.  Permanently disable them for every server.

polls are a must in online games, i have found myself countless times typing in the chat: banpoll incoming for player X, reason: [enter a valid reason here like tk, griefing...] to find out that polls are disabled. Those guys read that you wanted to banpoll them and just laugh. they dont stop, they just go on, knowing that you are defenceless. I dont want to wait for an admin to read my banrequest on the forums and i dont want to take 10 screens first so i can have a good ban request. In that time, they already gave the whole server a bad time during a full hour. its just not cool.

Allow me to present to you with what i have experienced with polls depending on server.

On NA there is no polls (anymore), but mind you the second it gets turned on people start votekicking for anything. Even if they only dislike the playstyle of a person, even tho they do nothing wrong.

It's the exact same on EU, just all the time. I have been votekicked/banned from EU_4 so many times by the russian shielders i've lost count. Always a poll against someone.

Not only does it interupt the gameplay for those that actually fight, it's uncalled for in 95% of the cases.

Turn it off!

i really hate that when people just press 2. I write a announcement in the chat before a poll and still nobody actually reads it and just presses 2. Its annoying because 40% of the server actually knows whats happening and presses 1 while the other part of the server just doesnt care and presses 2. Its not because that griefer/teamhitter is in the other team that he doesnt need to be removed.
Also people saying they press 2 because the poll distorts their view, thats fucking bullshit, i often let it open and ask for a reason and wait untill i get any response.

People don't like polls mainly because they are annoying.
But look how polls looks like in WFAS.

If you are alive in game, the poll looks like this:
(click to show/hide)

When you press 1-2-3, or if you are dead or in spectator mode, then regular poll window appears:
(click to show/hide)

If you press 1 or 2 in this window, you will vote (just like in cRPG), if you press 3 it hides/shows this poll window.

If you don't open poll window before time ends, you vote is counted as NO. So votes without stating a reason are almost always ignored by players and rejected (unless someone is known troll or it's map change poll etc).

This way, people busy fighting won't be bothered by polls and all rage polls without a reason will be rejected anyway. Devs can also add possibility to set poll reason for person who makes it.
Wouldn't be much better to make user friendly polling for cRPG, than arguing who deserves a ban for making useless poll and who doesn't?

The badmins disabled polling on NA cuz people started to votekick HX delayers everytime they started dragging out rounds an extra 3 mins, fighting 1v15.

Coincidently, most badmins and notorious HX delayers are in the same clan...hmmm.

What I hate on regepolls is that somehow they are initiated in middle of fray. Probably its intentional and is irritating as hell.
I almost never read them and press 2 sometimes I miss and hit 1.
Will be nice if text is smaller not too visible but not so much like in Deluge mod( I realized they are polling after few hours)  :mrgreen:

Learn to press ESC if you just want it gone, this way it does not ruin the poll when it is a valid poll. You just abstain from voting.

Still you lose control for 1 or 2 second and this could be fatal.

How about some kind of checkbox on the cRPG page, where you can check or uncheck whether you want to be asked in polls or not? If you uncheck the box the game technically presses "esc" for you, removing you from the amount of voters, so that only people vote who actually care.

Polls and democracy only work if enough people are interested and if those people know what they are doing.

This would be something which falls into the responsibility of admins. If someone starts such a poll and a good player gets kicked for being good, then screenshots and server logs have to lead for a ban/other punishment.

There is no way how you could put the chances for success/failure of a poll in relation to its justification/misuse. You can't give a poll lower chances of success to prevent abuse. If anything, the chances for success should be raised, because due to the amount of "idc-2"-pressers we have that attitude that polls are useless, and this attitude is the reason for that high amount of 2-pressers.

thought so, all these people saying escape makes you abstain confused me. I think that making the escape button abstain the voter should do alot. I also hate it when i press escape to close the log windom or to close my equipment tab and the vote closes. I have so many times voted 2 on a poll because i was typing a announcement of my poll and than somebody did it before me. i press escape (my natural reaction) and the poll closes together with the  chat window

Do you realize how complicated and time consuming it will be to defend from such accusation.
Smaller less irritating text is better solution  8-)

Yes, I know, I know, lazy devs won't do that anyway. But that would be the best option.

When there's a poll I quickly check the names and if I don't care I press 1. Keeps the vote a little bit fair with all the auto refusers.

This might have been suggested before, or might be undoable/not worth the effort, but what if the poll message was moved to the chat box in pink admin text?
This would cause for less intrusion and distraction for the players, and could help deal with this.
Voting would still be 1 or 2 as per now.
