Don't cheat.
-
ah... didnt see the ranged option. I play 75 in ranged and try higher FOV when I play on rainy maps and go melee.
-
85 with my xbow but in first person its 100 :P
-
Yeah, first person FOV for ranged is missing. That's because I think 3 threads in a row is a bit too much, even for me. If anyone of you guys is willing, open it yourself. Just please follow the same formatting I used in first two threads :)
Whole purpose of this is to see who's using advantages of WSE2 FOV feature better, ranged or melee. Melee mostly need higher FOV to be able to spot cav and ranged need it to be able to detect both cav and "ninjas". I expected ranged players to use higher FOV than their melee counterparts but that's not the case atm.

I tried higher FOV but its hard for me to guess the right distance for long range shots.
-
Well, for that you should use first person view and 55 FOV, combined with zoom in
-
Haha, I have to look around all the time with 75 FOV to make sure not to be backstabbed, with 55 I would go nuts. I use first person for shooting, its much better than 3rd.

fov depend of your screen format
4/3 , 16/9 , 16/10
i'm in 16/10 in 1680 / 1050
i tested a lot of setting then i came back to the defaut fov (75)
-
Maybe I will try to increase FOW 1 point per day, to get smoooooth transition 8-)
-
Not ranged myself, but from what I've seen I guess most of them are using something along the lines of 20-30.
-
I think I'll try to force myself to play with 100 FOV one day. I will probably feel like a fly for a few hours but that's alright considering the benefits of high FOV. Using 80 right now.
-
it will make catfood from your brain, don't do that
-
I use 90 FOV in 3rd person with the camera moved in almost all the way, and then use shift for zooming further.
-
I'm not ranged so I didn't vote.
I play cavalry in first person (go to 3rd when not engaging enemies) and I tried to bump both up to 85 FOV and it just makes me think I'm looking down a hallway with a telescope. It's so much harder to judge distance than in 75 and just looks generally terrible as far as depth perception goes.
It's f*cking awesome being able to see farther out to your sides, but if it completely fucks up your depth perception then I fail to see the benefit. I just leave mine at 75 since the extra inch or so on each side isn't worth not being able to accurately judge how far away people are (in tiny increments mind you).
Also something interesting I noticed, I changed my FOV to 85 and depth perception was fucked, I changed it back to 75 and the FOV changed back, but the depth perception was still fucked up (made me think I was a walleye with the view). So I think it definitely is something to be tweaked very conservatively.
