Maybe you fucked someone else's mother before? :D Yes Bill Hicks was one of the greatest I know. George Carlin was a genius as well. Just a shame that Hicks never got to Carlin's age... So many laughs lost. Also these comedians just can't die without some irony. Bill Hicks made fun of annoying non smokers and smoked on stage ---> died of cancer. George Carlin always made fun of religion and died in a city named after a saint and a hospital named after a saint. I wish Louis CK will not die choking on a big bag of dicks or something :D.
Panos what do you say would we make this thread metal + kickass comedy thread?

Recently started listening Carcass again. Very nice clusterfuck combination of various types of death metal, grindcore and goregrind. Then there's an occational rock styled riff mixed into that! Very much looking forward to listen to their comeback album "Surgical steel".

Heh I made it yesterday... After several hours of coloring with my mouse, I have new found respect for cartoon colorists (although they have professional tools to make it happen). Just imagine the work load to color Don Rosa's :F
Also want to add this Manilla Road album in particular because it's very similar to this style and it's just F'n amazing.
Perfect style of metal. Mid-late 70's to the mid 80's. It has distortion, but it's not glam hair bullshit that happened to the genre and became the standard in about 85' or so.
Also it's not something people know. Sure they know Iron Maiden. But their first album? Nope. They only care about the overrated dickinson stuff. Not seeing unique style of the first album.
PS: Seems like I managed to repost some songs I've already posted here. No problem though, most of those are in album playlists now!

I can't stop listening to this song. It's somehow heavy as fuck... Well the tuning is drop D, but still not as low as people use these days when they make their "heavy" songs. It's a race between extreme metal musicians these days... Who can drop their tuning the most. Fuck, shove that guitar up your ass and play 6 string base. Then take another one, tune it an octave lower and hand it over to your base player :D. Have fun mixing that crap and enjoy the subsonic mud that's coming through your studio monitors. /rant over
Oh yes the song:

.-. It's Nothing else matters/Stairway to heaven levels of annoying.
It's ok if you only listen to them from time to time :D. These are not Smoke On The Water/Sweet Child o Mine level of annoying (to me at least).
And BÖC - Don't Fear The Reaper is the one of those 3 I have listened very rarely. I have listened and played the living crap out of Nothing Else Matters (can't really say I enjoy that song anymore). Stairway To Heaven is annoying in the sense that every other wannabe metal douche knows only that song from the mighty Zeppelin... Kind of shame that some people don't explore the music more than just getting the ultimate hit song from bands and just ignore everything else. You don't know shit about Zep if that's the only song you ever heard from them... Still very, VERY important part of rock history and an amazing song in every way.

Well, that's like your opinion, man :D. That's not the worst cover song out there tho. I like mister Morpheus' singing but the band plays that song in a way it's not meant to be played. They went too much "melodeath" on this one. Even with the screams and lower tuned guitars this doesn't sound as heavy as the original one :D. I'll tell you why. The heaviness is in the dynamics, killer attack (fucking smash those strings with the pick!! Then palm mute the note so it get's silent before you hit the next one) and that base line. Not to mention Dio's vocals of course. One of the very few metal singers who didn't need to double or triple his vocals in studio. Small man but seriously powerful voice!
Title: Re: [EU] Son Of Odin
Post by: Christo on June 01, 2014, 07:25:50 pm
He loved to 'double' his voice though by lowering the volume of everyone else's amplifiers
I'm talking about recordingwise. Maybe he is mixed a tad loud yeah :P. Dio didn't have to double all his vocals in order to sound like that tho. Of course there's parts where he doubled or tripled his stuff to harmonize the lead vocals or some shit. Still the basic lead vocals are not doubled. As I said, a clear majority of lead singers (clean vocals) have to at least double everything when they're recording :D.
