Title: Crossbowman Apparel?
Post by: PoisonedTail on January 16, 2013, 03:16:40 am
I have been having a hard time with my crossbowman clothing. I am really bad at picking out cool clothing and currently look like crap. I do not really have a weight limit on the clothing; just not too heavy. Can you guys help me what armor to use?

The heavy aketon looks nice, the padded jack (I think) is nice, but some think it looks like a pillowcase.

In terms of style and combat effectiveness, I would choose the Byrnie. It's got more body armor than others near its weight, and less leg. No need for the leg armor. I think it looks stylin' too.

Fishsuit(scale armor) and kettle helm. You are no cbowman if you dont have a kettle helm.

Depends if you want to stay hidden. For camouflage you should use mail armor like Druzhina Mail Shirt or Mail Hauberk with a matching head armor. That way you blend in with walls and cliffs very well. For other maps use a version of the Lamellar Vest, depends on your environment. Rus Cavalry Boots fit almost every outfit, have decent leg armor and low upkeep, I use them with everything. Mail Gauntlets (+3 if possible) or something similar.
For the head, just buy different things and try out what you like best, just not too heavy.

This is just some of the stuff I use, I make money and don't have a problem with the weight with any of these sets.

Generally wear this, sorta "my outfit"

Hope it helps you some. even if you dont like the themes I choose, should give you a great idea on a price range you need to keep yourself under.

Don't get too heavy gloves. Remember they subtract 3 times their weight to your WPF. Leather gloves are probably the best. Otherwise go for some body armour around 5-7 weight and head armour no higher than 1.5. This way you will have hardly no WPF penalty (and a fair amount of armour).

4 times. Head armor - 2x.

Arbalest user?

I'd go with light - medium gear, like putting a max of weight at around 20 (?) for the body armor so upkeep isnt going to high either. I know 12+ weight is already heavy gear but its still alright for a crossbower who's also alright for melee fights (putting 1h/2h wpf and PS/IF).

Imo heraldic mails are always nice looking when holding a crossbow.
