What's up with the maps on NA_1 lately?
It seems like most of the time we're just playing on Boring Generic Asymmetric Village #???, featuring either cliffs(!) or hills(!) surrounding it.
Why can't we have some more original maps? Seriously, at this point even a random steppe is better than just another lame village.

EU 1 is shit as well.

Agree: why do I see so rarely maps like nord town, town, port assoult, ruins ): they're the best.. Also that oasis map, that one was one of my favourite. There probably are other maps that were cool, but atm I don't remeber them.

EU1= "Mountain & Blade"... mixed with invisible walls, canyons and city maps with narrow alleys.
-
EU 1 is ranged as well.
fixed.

Aye, currently the maps are pure knavery.

Its gotten to the point where I usually play community when it has people, but I do agree that ruins....we need more of that lovely map :D

Indeed, this mod is slowly becoming "no strategy tactic-less death field 2013 edition". Every map may as well be either an open field with some decorative buildings or an anti-cav tunnel system.
Open field maps:
- Spawn
- Infantry Charges
-Archers sit back
-Cav Flanks
-archers, AFKers and Infantry get wrecked by whichever team has more cav.
Tunnels:
-Spawn
-Infantry Charges
-Archers sit back
-Cav gets fucked / dismounts
-Everyone gets fucked by whichever team has most 2h heroes
When I play Napoleonic Wars with my friends, at least there's some variation of tactics even on a public battle server. Set up fortifications, flank around, use suppressive volleys to move up, and that makes up for the games lack of persistence.

Maps are the worst part of this mod.

Huh, when I play NW with my friends, we usually just spam the bayonet at horses.
Also, yeah, maps aren't fun anymore.

We need some maps that do not promote circling for 3 minutes.

I really hate those two maps, designed for 64 players and it shows, although lately we don't pass that number all that consistently. Also, the ranged camp, fucking hell.

Maps are the worst part of this mod.
Native village maps can't bring the sort of gameplay that maps such as Pitfalls, Tropical, and Glacier Valley bring to the table.
chadz should offer gold/loom point incentive for making good maps, because I'm probably never making another

to further explain: look at the native battle maps, then look at native village. Native village maps are just meant to add variety to the singleplayer game. They are maps made by the dozens by M&B staff. All feature a non-terraformed random terrain, most with huge cliffs (which shouldn't be able to be scaled when they are 70 degree sheer cliff faces) and a smattering of houses.
Compare the shitty village maps with native BATTLE maps. Pretty much all of them are on the server, classics like Ruins, Farm By The River, Battle On Ice, Arena, etc. I'm sure that EVERYONE prefers those maps to Rydjef c where half of the terrain is cliffs and the gameplay slows to a crawl for the duration, with lots of stupid looking cliff battles that aren't realistic at all.
It's unrewarding to make my great maps best in crpg (Pitfalls, Tropical, Glacier Valley) because they are played just as frequently as the 100 shitty village maps which swamp the maplist. Amazing balanced maps like Battle Of The Mounds, Field Battle, or Dunes are buried in a sea of shitty village maps.
SUMMARY:::
There needs to be incentive to make good maps (gold, loom pts) and better maps should be played more frequently in rotation than Random_Village_Map_83
One more tidbit:: No one is going to get their feelings hurt when a native village map is removed.
