Current builds, usually, have low WM but íf that was to change soon theyd be useless.

Id go 21/18 but as a shielder i'm more str based player..
Btw with 21/18 18/21 builds you sacrifice some other stats to buff a stat you feel you lack.
What did you feel like you needed more of while playing your 18/18 build?

I've tried anywhere between 6 and 9 Power Strike as 1h/shield, and I have had the most success with 6 PS. With low agi/ath, 2h heroes just backpedal while swinging, and you can never get in hits. I don't mind the damage either, but I use a +3 military cleaver (38 cut).
I think speed bonus from high athletics pretty much offsets lower PS, as long as you move forward whenever you swing.

What about WPF vs. IF for a 1H shielder?
You get around 110 with no WM and around 150 wpf with max WM (but no IF instead).
- How much faster does these 40 WPF make your 1H attacks? Is it enough to matter or even offset the insane 2H attack speed?

Honestly WPF does more for damage than speed, especially with 1-handers. The thing is 1-handers need all the damage you can get to lower your chances of glancing. Still, if you plan on wearing medium armor...3 WM is more than enough.

I will max WM on my 18/18 1H-shielder and see if I notice any difference. So far WM 0 and WM 5 feels like very little difference I have to admit...

It depends on the type of weapon you're using. 1H cut weapons most definitely "fail to penetrate" your average kuyak my old friend more with lower WPF.

WPF damage increase is multiplicative with other damage boosts, so it benefits to have high wpf when you also have a decent amount of PS/speed bonus from ath.

glances depend on positioning, 1h swings (especially longer swords) have tight sweetspots and if you land a blow outside them you will glance. High damage (PS, speed, some WPF) can widen the sweetspots a bit by increasing your marginal areas.
Right swing (forehand swing) and stab are trickiest in terms of sweetspot and glance easiest, overhead doesn't glance much but is hard to use at close range cuz of turn nerf, left swing (backhand) has best sweetspots, almost no glance areas. So newer 1h should probably be left swinging 90% of time (mix it up by holding swings, or feinting to throw people off). Like I said longer swords (100+ length) like Knightly arming or Nordic champ actually glance more cuz they have tighter sweetspots, in a lot of ways 90 or so length ones like Italian sword and Nordic war sword are easier to use. Or just use a 3 directional weapon like a cleaver, axe or military hammer cuz stab is pretty difficult to use also.

18/18 is a great shield build. Solid, sturdy, plenty of room for error with extra IF and Shield skill. 5WM/6IF, or 6WM for two weapon types.
