Whilst the ability to change first person FOV is freaking sweet, the first person still feels quite limited.
What if the first person camera was moved slightly backwards? I have this feeling that the camera being somewhere in front of the characters face is the problem with it. Is it just me?

Quite possible you are right cause the reason barely anyone uses FP mode is cause you simply cant see a thing compared to 3rd person. That and also you cant admire your own awesome fashionsense while 1st person. But imo I doubt moving it backwards whould help.

I would also like to add that, for example, you just cant see the weapon during right block.
Tbh, I played 1st person only until few weeks ago. THat, other than the fact I had to start playing on WASD controls (dont ask  ), the inability to see the block really sucks.
But, yes, view feels really limited, but I'm not sure moving it back will fix it, unfortunately :/

I agree. When holding a sword in FP, I can only see the tip. I use 3rd person, then zoom in using the + sign. It works rather well as an alternative to moving the camera back from first person.

best idea ever, we need mirrors in every map!

I play Chivalry in first person only and it works really good and is part of the fun for me.
Maybe beloved Evil Overlord could just c&p the fov of Chivalry

First person will never be used to fight melee until we have servers forcing it down.
nuffsaid
Would be nice though, if the camera is moved back a bit.

You guys just haven't played first person long enough to get the hang of it . I find no problem being near or at the top of the boards on just about every match and I play exclusively in 1st person. I have been since about 2008 when I first began playing. You simply have to get used to it, no it will never be as easy as 3rd person but the payoff for me is the intensity and challenge.

quick edit, huh?
I don't think people are complaining about it being omg-hard (it really isn't), it is just lacking.

Yes, I don't want to be one of those guys :)
I used first person because, to be honest in my early M&B days I didn't even know 3rd person existed. (1.011) and so I went through life in first person. When I finally found out about 3rd person it was too late for me and I couldn't make the switch.
I love first person though, and find the FOV setting to be a tad more helpful. I usually keep it around 85-90. I also keep my mouse sensitivity at the max.
I think that having the FOV too high makes it even harder though
