Title: Scotch time
Post by: Hekke on January 01, 2013, 11:36:31 pm
Hello there.

There are many items like eastern europe, far east, nomads, some less but still many of feudal knights and I think that it might be a good idea to add some scotch items.

What would ya say?

Sooo... Some ice and a few glasses? What else would you need as scotch items? Well a butler to pour your drink for you would be nice... And a hot chick to drink it with ofc...

If you were thinking about some silly ideas to look like braveheart then You were right :D
That could be great to go there in your kilt, slice some people with 2h sword while eating your haggis and playing bagpipe, don't Ya think?

I don't think you should use Braveheart or the Highlander for ideas, don't think its that accurate. But yeah scottish stuff would be cool.

Btw.

There are mods like Brytenwalda and maybe few more that could have some similar armors.
Maybe their creators would agree to use them in CRPG, I could find few items and ask autors.
Of course if somebody from the bosses of CRPG would agree to add some

By the way, why is it part of your "family history"? Are your parents alcoholics?  :D

Because my mothers family is from the glen and have worked in the distillery...

Why would i ask a German for opinions on scotch, its like asking Americans for opinion on beer.

So far there are models of highlanders, with armor and weapon. I hope we will get them.

Highlander style armours cant be added as they have modelled skin, meaning they look retarded with non white characters in game.

I love Glen!  One of my favorites.

Also for a good american bourbon try out Blantons.  It is expensive but worth it.  Tastes like honey.

Well since im Scottish i might aswell burst ur bubble on "Braveheart" and this tartan bullshit MTW2 did. None of that happened no kilts no tartan till maybe 16th century sorry. If i saw any of it id moan like hell to get it taken out and away from wannabe William Wallaces. Tartan was expensive to make during medieval times only the nobles and rich ppl would wear a sash of tartan. Tartan during this time was and still is a sign of what clan u come from. So even worse during these games and movie all tartan would be the same which is even more crazy. Kilts came much much later.

The Scottish armies of these times wore the same as the English and most of the other country's of the time.

Kind Regards Mad_Scotsman

@Ulmarth
Ok Mate, I understand but as I said before, I don't want it to be historically accurate. This is a game and I just thought that it could be something new and fun in CRPG. Personally I would have great fun with stuff like this, that's why I asked how about You guys.

What era is the current armor in crpg from? 1200? 1400?
Title: Re: Scotch time
Post by: Ulmarth on January 04, 2013, 10:03:24 pm
I undertsnad u like the theme yes and i also understand that cRPG isnt historicaly accurate but comon this is a "loosly based Medieval" game and if i saw gunpowder era style armour of my own nation added id be annoyed thats all.

I mean i dnt know your nationality but what if somone was playin in armour of ur nation that was about 300 years out of the future :P

Kind Regards

Yeh I see your point, maybe I shouldn't give it name "Scotch" item's. Anyway what do Ya think about adding some items like this? :)
We'll not call them Scotch and they just would be some nice light armours stylized on on these from movie and the total war game?

Btw. Am from Poland and we have some proud history here too :)
I know your pain couse most of people here have problems with remembering it also.

True... +1. I don't like Ammurrrican beers and I have to assume that they just don't know about better stuff.

And who is putting ice in a scotch? (that would be you Haboe) SHAME ON THOU! Scotch + a glass of ice water. One sip of ice water and a sip from the scotch. Drink like a sire!

I know it is a troll but I will bite.

We have excellent IPA's on the west coast.  Lagunitas, Green Flash, Moylans, and Bear Republic to name a few.  I am a hop head so that is what I like.

I have the Three Floyds brewery down the street from me.  They make this awesome Russian stout called "Dark Lord".  I have talked to many beer enthusiasts from across seas and they always beg me to send them some through the mail.

Indeed, but im sure you will agree that beer drinkers are much rarer in NA that EU.

It is changing.  Pubs with craft beers are popping up everywhere.

Many of them do not sell anything that is mass produced.  IE Miller, Busch(bud), Coolers, PBR

Every time I go to this place is insanely packed.

I just needed someone to give me some advice which American beers to look after for :D (although I've seen that the selection of those is really limited in Finland...)

I've tasted couple NA beers. Nothing too special yet. Then I tasted some Bud too... Then I haven't even thought about looking for American beers (yes I know Bud is barely a beer...)
