How shitty is your PC?
Try www.quakelive.com :P

I kinda want to play a FPS with customizable weapons, like in BF 3, can anyone suggest anything? :)
Well, my PC isn't that shitty, it's more like medium.
-
Well do you want to play multiplayer or singleplayer or both?
-
Both, and I just found out Battlefield Play4Free
Looks good, will try it.

Quake is full of cheating cunts

Call of Duty Black Ops 2. Should atleast be able to play it on Medium lol.
It's good!
-
+1 for Battlefied 1942, IMO best fps ever made, had lotsa fun playing it :P, it has aged really well, i think theres still like 600players online avg, which is pretty good for 11yr old game!! and YES theres ships, DDs, BBs, subs, PT-boats, Landing crafts, and CV's majority on Pacific maps tho,

mech warrior 4 is cool - just played it on my shitty laptop.

Call of Duty 2 is still the best Call of Duty multiplayer released. It is cheap and while NA has a number of constantly active servers, EU appears to have a large active community still rocking it old school. I still fire it up and play.

It's full of players who have been playing Quake 3 for over a decade. While there were a few aimhacks released for the LG/RG, the majority of players are just going to be far better than you. They will know where you are going, and they will be able to perfectly lead you with a rocket and juggle you to death. They will also know where all of the item spawns are. If you go up against a good player (or even a mediocre one) as a new player, expect a K:D around -3:30 (or whatever the fraglimit is).
It's kind of a shame that so few purely skill based shooters are released anymore. RTS (specifically SC2) is the only genre I can think of that offers deep 1v1 gameplay anymore.

Reposting my list from another thread:
Battlefield 1942 classic free to play (http://www.battlefield.com/battlefield-1942) - free and will run on ancient pc infantry, tanks, planes, stationary guns, (ships??)
I 2ND THIS HEAVILY. Still lots of fun and playing it on Origin. Just be sure to edit all text files and all shit to make the game playable on your PC all maxed to atleast look decent. Great game nonetheless though. Just wish the gear certain factions used were more historically accurate so to speak and they've added new historical accurate gear for each faction.

I still think that 1942 is the best part of the series... At least I had the most fun with it.

And in case you really want to go old school:

Still some rifles only servers (which was my favorite game type, no spray and pray.) But I didn't notice any crazy modding on the bunny hop servers
On the Battlefield Play4Free, haven't really tried it but I wouldn't with what I already own.
Battlefield Heroes on the other hand is a really fun cartoony version of Battlefield, 1942 style. It has the tanks, planes, jeeps and 3 different classes with customizable loads and abilities. My son likes to claim it is a ripoff of TF2, but it isn't at all.
It does have some purchase only weapons, but in my experience, they don't matter. You don't need them. If you play enough, you earn enough victory points to "rent" upgraded weapons anyhow, so it isn't of concern.
It used to have some lag issues, which is one reason I stopped playing (and then forgot about it). But I loaded it up today and played for a couple hours with none of those issues, so it looks like they fixed it.

I might install it again.. Dude! kar98k, lee enfield (scoped & un-scoped) where thé weapons! Or the awesome frag spots to throw exactly at the bomb with s&d... Good times

X3:TC is a fantastic game, but I'm not sure it would run all that well on a low-end machine.

Further commenting on this since I'm an active Quake Live player. I played Quake 3 on and off with pauses and now playing QL (same game, just via browser, and free). I don't think I saw a cheater yet. Cheaters like to stick to popular games / games with many people. While Quake 3 / QL is an absolutely awesome game, the age has taken it's toll on player numbers.
What Saul says about skill there is more than true: you might think people are cheating, but Q3/QL has a really high skill ceiling and quite a few vets that have been playing this game since forever and are just worlds beyond skillwise. Playing against those present the same chance as fighting a lvl 33 full loomed tincan with a level 1 practice dagger peasant when you have just started playing M&B.
It's an extremely skill based game. I love playing the gamemode called Clan Arena the most, where everyone starts with all weapons, same armor, same hp with pickups disabled. So it comes down to purely skill so if I get killed there it was only because I was a worse player than the enemy (I can't call on people crutching or using something "easymode").
But! Quake Live has a system that kind of detects where you are skill-wise and matches you up to players of the same skill - so because of this I almost never get completely destroyed and it puts me on a mostly even playground, which is awesome. You are of course able to join players with better skill, but don't expect to do anything but die there :).

What exactly do you mean by medium PC? Any specs? Cause I got a PC with a hardware from the year 2008 which was barely average back than with only up to date graphicscard and I basically run everything they make these days.
