... the Bec de Corbin?
Seriously, nobody is using this weapon.
If you take a look at the market you see that it is incredibly hard to trade this thing (you are alway in the inferior position because you have to pay money on the top).
What makes it so bad? I own a +3 Bec and i think it's a quite nice weapon.
-
Snipslot uses +3 Bec among others :l

From what I hear NA loves the Bec, Eu not so much
To me its a similar weapon to the Great Long Axe (and long bardiche/long war axe) but without the shield breaker stat. If I use a short weapon I feel like I might as well compete better against shielders if I must play in their range
It has a stab though, and minimum damage is better than the axes. I just never really tried it much tbh, I should

It still hits like a truck, especially when loomed. It's underrated because of how much lower its stats are, compared to before. Comparing it to the previous (OP) version makes it bad, comparing the current version to the same type of weapons in game right now, it's clearly still good. Compare it to other polearms though, you see it lacks length, which of course is the king stat.
Bec de Corbin
weapon length: 120
weight: 2.8
difficulty: 15
speed rating: 93
weapon length: 120
thrust damage: 26 pierce
swing damage: 34 pierce
slots: 2
Secondary Mode
Morningstar
weapon length: 82
weight: 3.5
difficulty: 14
speed rating: 92
weapon length: 82
thrust damage: 0 pierce
swing damage: 38 pierce
slots: 2
Unbalanced
Bonus against Shield
That's a huge length difference, it's about like fighting a LHB as a longsworder, except you don't have the thrust to compensate your range disadvantage. I'd rather have a bec than a morning star, any day.
-
please dont tell me that you are going to explain the community how OP the bec de corbin is while i just sold a +3 bec de corbin?
-
I got rid of mine because I didn't use it much, but I thought it was still pretty good and fun to use.

Not commenting on the overall point of your post, just I would like someone to compare 120 polearm to 82 2 hander. It is really that much?

long war axe > bec de corbin
thats it :)
-
Maybe they should buff the secondary mode of this weapon to allow more playstyles?
The blunt-part of this weapon is worse than the 1h warhammer and a knockdown could compensate the lack of length in comparison to 2h animations and the other high tier polearms.

Weapon length when comparing weapons of different classes is hard to nail exactly. Generally speaking, you can subtract about 15-20 length from the polearm and that's about the effective length it has, in terms of 2h weapon length. Different swing directions have different effective lengths, not just thrusts. Even if you take the high end, you're still looking at having 20 extra reach with a Bec than with a Morning Star(which is really one of the shortest weapons in the game, by any standard).

153-106 = 47
120-82 = 38
9 length is nothing to sneeze at. It's not really comparable. A long bardiche user against longsword fits more tbh. :P
Personally I prefer a morningstar over a bec. Those 4 damage are great.
-
its a good weapon but not for trading :P for the same reason that the danish wasnt worth jack shit even before the nerf.
There are so many of them around that you can trade anything for one, they are not desirable for trading looms

You're right 9 is quite a bit. I was just trying to grab popular weapons to possibly help give an idea of how it feels, I didn't spend much time looking for the best items to compare. Still, 9 length is probably too different to make it a worth while comparison, by any means.
Edit: Generally whenever I can take a balanced weapon over an unbalanced one, I do. After I swing, I always start chambering another attack and fall back into a block only if I know they'd hit me if I went through with the attack.

With Bec I have a feeling when blocked like my weapon bounce of enemy armor which is extremely annoying (can't hear the sound to determine what actually happened). No such problem with Morningstar.
Polearm animation is generally awful and glitchy but with those axes I have a different feeling although they sometimes produce similar effect. Bec has that little head and I always think that I've hit someone with rigid wooden stick.
-
The other problem with polearm animations, besides reach penalties, is that the hitboxes for all your swings start behind you. I've glanced off of teammates/barrels/walls/horses outside of my FoV and weapon reach/behind me & out of reach so many times that I don't even rage any more. The good thing about 2h anims is that you can do decent damage while being right next to your target due to how the animations play out differently.
Overall though I still love the bec, I frequently 1 shot medium armor targets at 6ps if I hit the head. I don't get why people like Saul bag on it so much because of its stats.

I don't care for it due to its length. Personally I'd rather use a poleaxe or long awlpike.
