Title: CRPG metaphor for society?
Post by: Rhaegar on December 20, 2012, 04:20:23 pm
Sometimes I turn to for servers dressed as a peasant, on these occasions, I noticed that the violence of my team for me has multiplied, and often my teammates make me apart without scruples and without apology, this does not happen when I wear a nice armor. This does not seem right and I think that even the most dirt peasant deserves respect.
If you mean that people who contribute almost nothing get treated like they are almost nothing.
Thats how life is.
I've killed you plenty of times in siege as a peasant. Usually in top 3, when I'm playing serious.
This mod is way more interesting when you're in peasant clothes, because you can't survive more than 3 hits and usually die in one. You are really careful and try to give your best. In heavy armor you become lazy.

I respect peasants. I try not to kill them, but sometimes bloodlust consumes me and I strike one down anyway.

Sry, but i could not take it serious after that.
GTX, tbh you're not that far above average, you're just another guy crutching 3+ gear and a 3+ 2h sword and a high level main, doubt you'd be doing specifically great without those things.
And yes I'm aware that Leshma is 35 and fully loomed as well, but at least Leshma doesn't purely play with looms stacked up, he got the balls and the skill to do without.

Don't forget abusing s-key and stab + avoiding all fights against more than 1 enemy.

When I see an actual peasant, I sheath my weapon and teach the rabble a lesson with my bare fists.
This accidentaly makes me bitch slapping their medium armored allies coming to save them.

I know how to get points and current ranking is point based. Of course, with 60+ body armour and 7+ IF/PS scoring high amount of points on siege is a lot easier.
For example, Rhaegar is on top of the scoreboard all the time, even when he's wearing Butcher apron, but he's one of the best shielders I've seen in cRPG so that's not surprising.
Some other siege "peasants": SoA_Diego, Butan...

My metaphor for society is put a man on a horse or in a car and he does not give a damn about pedestrians!!

I never had fully loomed gear, and i am only lvl 32. So i am actually less geared than Leshma. And Zlisch..... will u seriously stop posting crap, when u dont even know half of it?
I know u hate me, but seriously..... think about what u are saying, u do not even know, if it is true.

Maybe you're just noticing tw's more, though you likely are getting tked more often as well. Less armor means you take a hell of a lot more damage from friendlies than you otherwise would. From my understanding, team-damage reduction is on the raw damage side, which results in a much larger damage reduction than simply cutting the end damage in half. This means that in heavy armor, most TWs will likely just glance and you'll be much less inclined to remember ever being tw'ed.

I don't mind legitimate peasants (early level chars), people I see in the server week after week wearing peasant rags and a cudgel will get on my shit list pretty quickly.
Although I don't "intentionally" run them over with my horse, I do talk a lot of shit about them and call them leechers at every opportunity.

Whoa whoa whoa...that scenario I presented has happened about 2, maybe 3 times in the over 1.5 years I've been playing this mod :P
I'm usually very helpful when I'm in the server, and if I'm talking shit, it's usually in jest (and people know I'm fucking around). If not, fuckem :P
That is one of annoyances though, is high level chars leeching for gold. It doesn't bother me if they bring an actual weapon (like a pitch fork), but a fucking cudgel or butchers knife is ridiculous and hurts your team with the balancing when you could have someone who's actual useful on your team.

Same here froto, I only kill peasants if they are extremely hostile to me and are hurting me I generally give them a few seconds to realize I mean no harm. Poor farmers, they have it hard enough!! buff peasants!

Unfortunately, thanks to all the changes cmp did during past two years, pitchfork can't be considered as an actual weapon anymore.

Just been nearly teamkilled by a teammate, just because I'm a peasant. He's from Mercs and obviously shares certain traits with Bjord.

I used to get beat up by allies all the time, bumped and punched while trying to help my team. This mostly stopped when I gave up archery. Prob the same people beating up peasants. Bastards.....

Anyone who hasn't played a peasant build hasn't lived. When you only have 1-2 hits to take before you die it really makes the game more of a rush, especially when you're fighting multiple opponents.

I'm a rich peasant wearing kaftan ( I'M VERY VERY upset that kaftan has been nerfed btw)
peasants are the key of this game. I make a perfect meat shield!
that's all

We need an international peasant-day type holiday, where once a year both EU and NA can come together and celebrate the life and death of peasants.

Peasant clothes are the best! You will not get respect from your teammates, but your enemies will underestimate you, granting you that extra edge that gets them killed. Going with a shirt, round buckler and any sword is just extra fun, hardly anyone expects the punch that you are carrying. Of course, half a mistake and you are done, but it is so fun...
Also, fake peasants scare me more than any one of the kuyak clones. Why? Because I know what to expect when I approach a "standardly dressed" guy, but that other one in drapes, with a small club, meh, that is easy, right? RIGHT?!?! I am now knocked down and dead before I even realise he is not what I thought!

And what a weird fucking reply to my post, do you have issues and problems related to self worth?

we tend to observe the appearance and not the person, and you do not respect those who seem weaker
Can you type something in fucking english? Or at least related to the topic?
People who run around wearing shitgear usually does nothing to help the team effort. So the general opinion is that they are worthless. Thus people slay peasants without caring Now of course some people actually contribute despite wearing peasant gear, and they suffer needlessly from the communities attitude towards peasants, so you have a point.
But still, 99% of people in peasant gear are fucking leechers who just leech gold.

I haven't minused anyone four times in a row in a long time but you certainly deserve it, Tindel. Good job for calling everyone who minused your post idiots, that will get you just more infamy. Who knows, with that attitude you might reach ultimate "GTX" level.

What this means is that you tend to look at the suit and not the man in it, judge people by what they wear and not who they are... then he states that you seem to have no respect for people whose outfits are "lower" than yours even though the person wearing that outfit may be a "better" man than you, all in all, I think he's calling you sort of an asshole. And I think he's right.

I can't count how many times I've fought alone against multiple enemies and kept one alive simply because he was a newer player. Not out of the kindness of my heart however. On the contrary, he would teamhit the better players allowing me to get free hits. I also can't count how many times the better players have actually turned around from fighting me and cut down their teammate as a result. I find it hilarious.

Having a peasant fighting on your side in any group fight is a curse, if he keeps getting in the middle, futilely trying to damage the enemy with his peasant weapon, since it results in me getting hit by the enemy, as i'm trying to avoid teamhitting.
Really, people, if you can't effectively hit the enemy, BACK OFF!
