Title: Suggestion: Borderless window
Post by: Shemaforash on December 08, 2012, 08:47:05 pm
I'd really appreciate this because I'm a picky cunt that doesn't want borders while surfing on my other screen and playing

What stops you from using fullscreen?

Usually people want this to have a super alt-tab speed + ability to see when you spawn or whatever while surfing the internet.

No, I have two screens which still makes me have to alt-tab if I want to surf while dead on other screen.

Alt-tab speed is pretty much instant on Vista/7 with the newer DirectX version I use.

No, I have two screens which still makes me have to alt-tab if I want to surf while dead on other screen.

Makes sense. I'll see how hard it would be to add it, I don't really know how it's done.

It shouldn't be that difficult, I'm assuming... I've seen some programs giving you a half-assed borderless window but never one that makes it flawlessly :(

It's one of the programs I tried, maybe I'm executing it incorrectly?

Oh sorry, I hadn't actually tried it myself. I just remembered coming across it when I was looking for the option after noticing vertical sync only really working in windowed mode. But then I read a lot of stuff about windowed mode actually causing lower performance so decided to stick with full screen.

If you're only reason for this is to switch between windows, can I suggest using alt+enter to make the game windowed mode before alt+tabbing (if you're not already aware of that). When alt+tabbing from full screen, the game often crashes. Alt+enter beforehand to make it windowed mode, then alt+tabbing, I can't recall a single time I've crashed. Just throwing it out there, even though it looks like from your previous posts its more about a matter of speed... but shit, what's half a second extra eh? The universe is infinite.

I understand, but that seems unnecessary for such an easy task of "pressing ESC, getting your mouse not locked to the screen and being able to surf the other screen"

Alt-tab crash should be fixed in WSE2, at least under Vista/7.

Oooo, nice! I'll be using that on x1's for a while and see.  :)
