Hi

I'm new to mount and blade crpg and have noticed alot of unique banners on the servers, how can you make/get these?

You need to be in a clan in the ladder page, and then win an auction on a banner in: http://c-rpg.net/index.php?page=marketplaceauction

Yes, with photoshop or paint.
