Title: Best class to play with 100+ ping

So after many strat battles on opposite sides of the ocean and a recent eu invasion of na what do you guys think is the best class to play for high pings?

Surprisingly longspear works rather well, sometimes forgot that I was playing with high ping, just don't get into a 1 vs 1.

When I played in NA, I used mostly archery. I would say ranged is best, but I do not like crossbows so I stick to archery.
At least for me, manual blocking becomes much harder, for shields the reply time is too short (unless you start spamming left swing, which I beliee to be lame), and in general melee is faster than ranged. Also, avoid getting in duels, try to go for the group.

Cav, longspearman, ranged, or shielder, basically anything that doesn't require that much blocking.

My current anti ping build is 18/18 shielder/crossbowman. You have ping? Shoot people from distance. You dont have high ping? Go charge like a boss

Lancer-Cav (or anything else with a slow attack on horse so it allows greater room for error), Long Spear/Pike, Archer.

How high are you talking? With 130ish ping, it's still possible (though tricky against some builds and weapons) to block consistently. Estimating range becomes more difficult too, but that can be mitigated by taking a long weapon. Just make sure to hop in the duel server an hour or so before the battle to give yourself time to adjust.

If it's quite a lot higher than that, then you'll want to look into cav, ranged, or support polearm (it's difficult to avoid teamwounding in melee with a high ping, however).

From playing with 100-130 ping for over 2 years on NA servers I can say that lance cav/more str orientated 2h or pole is the best build for that type of ping.

This is my build at 30 and in my opinion the best mix of the two, also probably the best cav build with athletics since I rate PS over riding for cav.

I top scoreboards every strat battle where i'm cav and usually top 3 for melee with that build on 110 ping~

cant say bout shielder,  but the other 3 are def a good choice

What exact ping are you talking about? If you have 100-140 you can still block (As others have said as well).

If you get any higher, you probably don't want to be your regular 2h hero.

I've been playing with 240-350 ping for about 4 months now. I've found that playing shielder, archer or HA is viable with 240 ping, you just gotta play to the enemies mistakes and not presume you can do fancy stuff. With 350 everything becomes much, much harder. Cav is not viable, as you will never hit the enemy moreso than your friends. Archer is possible, though harder. Shielder is possible, but you have to use a longer onehanded weapon.

I am playing with a constant high ping of 150-220 and I tried 2h / Shielder/ Archer / HA / Pole / 2h Cav/Pole and in my opinion Pole infantry is the best or easiest with that ping. Blocking is still hard but the range helps a lot. Archer or HA really needs a lot of luck and anticipation to hit anything ;)
The speed of 1h makes it easiest to hit, but only as long as the target stands still ;)  moving, straving and dancing target will annoy You, for You never exactly know when they are behind Your shield.
Long story short:  Pole - high range - high speed

I was banned on eu so I played with my STF on na servers my stf was a ha and I was a quite hard hitting ha (18 18)

Shielder is NOT ok at 100+ ping you won't be able to get counter attacks in after block you will get outspammed.

Basically you wanna avoid all 1v1 fights, so you can actually play any class if you're just gonna run around supporting teammates and backstabbing people. But something that specializes in that is prolly best.

Disagree, played on NA_1 with 145 ping and I did relatively fine, topping scoreboard at least.

Actually People Need "Iskarian" build, have you ever seen him playing? topping scoreboard with 150+ ping full plate and charger.

Yeah ranged would be my preferential choice for high ping, mainly because you don't have to block.  I hated trying to play cavalry lancer on EU ping from NA, take the slow swing of your polearm and add a little more delay and I couldn't hit shit, even after 10 minutes of trying to get my timing down.

Melee should be avoided with high ping, you're best bet is going to be archery or crossbows.

I play with minimum 330 ping on EU, 250 on NA.

I agree with the others on here. Go ranged, shielder, etc. My main character was a shielder and it worked well (could survive much longer and I felt more useful in flag defence/captures).

Just to share something else for reference.
Current build: 18/21, 2H
Supporting player in all situations. Once in a while I go chase after naked people for the lolz.

Experience: Frustrating but fun. If I play for ego, I would not last a single round. But the mod has amazing game mechanics and variations(weapons/armour), it is addictive and enjoyable.

Observation: No data to back it up,  purely on observation. Hitting and blocking is "hit-and-miss". The outcome is not congruent with what my animation is telling me. Sometimes it may look like I have executed a good block, but I still die. It seems like my killer is in another position that my animation is not showing. Majority of the time, my weapon just cut through people without any effect. However, it is still playable with some common sense and patience. There is almost zero chance facing a good duelist who use feigns and good footwork.

I moved in early 2011 from a place where I got 70 - 75 ping.  That was great, only time I lagged was during huge storms, which happen more often than not in Washington.  In my new town I have a ping of 94 - 110 with not unusual lag spikes that hit me to 140 - 150 on a daily basis.  I just try to rough it through those and I usually play a 21/15 or 18/18 build.

This graph should cover what pings are shit and what are great for people who think that 120 - 140 ping is totally fine.


However, to answer the original question, I find that if you're not rubberbanding, ranged is a great route to take as it doesn't require much more than the ability to aim at your target.  Otherwise, full strength polearm / 2h is what one of my friends does.  He lives in the middle of buttfuck nowhere, Idaho and gets 130 - 150 ping on NA-1.  After trying several builds he finally decided that high strength with a heavy hitting weapon that doesn't require much precision is a pretty good route to go after if all you want is to kill a few people before your lag ultimately causes your demise.
