Title: StarForge
Post by: Leshma on November 28, 2012, 03:23:15 am
Remember this?
StarForge is advanced version of it, with sci-fi theme and fancy graphics. It's not finished yet, they are trying to collect the funds via indiegogo (they can't use Kickstarter, it's only for merrican citizens). It's procedurally generated (voxel) graphics as you can notice. Doesn't seem like a good game but I hope there will be more games like this. I prefer realistic approach, kinda bored with cubes.
These voxel games are starting to look really good, in few years they will be on par with best looking games using man made assets.
Last voxel games I've played were Delta Force and Outcast and those were damn good games.

They already reached their goal but you can pledge if you want, there's ~50 hours left.
I hope they will kickstart this in few months as well and that they will count combined amount for stretch goals. Because at 500000$ this game becomes Sui Generis + Limit Theory + Warband.
But don't like art style, it's weird. And they need to work on those animations, they are perfectly fine for those human like rabbits in Overgrowth but real humans don't move like that.
I also wish they ditch the generic name and use Giants 2 instead :D

I tried it back when they first announced it and .... obviously it was incomplete. Not interested in it enough to give it another shot but well see how it comes along.

This doesn't look very interesting. Is there any real content other than fucking around in the dull landscape?

Dunno, haven't tried it yet. Fucking around in the dull landscape is actually my kind of thing. I'm still playing Wayward and building stuff around :D

There isn't much content yet, but the huge potential is clearly visible. You can already build and kill stuff(Though only spaceworms!) and fool around with the physics and vehicles a bit. Looking forward to more enemies and actually being able to harvest resources. :P

Some Terraria style progression with enemies and and biomes would be nice. I also wish they had ended the video where the guy jumps off the platform in the outer atmosphere and falls through the clouds to the ground.
