In the stats of shields there is something called 'body armor'
Does this mean when you have it on your back, your body armor is increased by a certain value?
-
Shield does protect your back while put there, but not that much.
-
No, the body armor stat only applies to shield by reducing the amount of damage the shield takes when it is hit.

Ok thanks, too bad it would have been a cool feature.
If it did ad up to your body armor, some crappy shields could have become very interesting.
Like the hide covered shield, it's not good as an actual shield vs melee weapons but could have been useful as a bit of extra body armor when carried on the back or as arrow shield while being lightweight..

If you have the shield on your back and a projectile hits it (no forcefield, need to hit the shield) there's reduced damage. Dunno how the formula was again, if it was half of the shield's armor added to your own body armor while calculating the damage or something else.

You need to keep in mind that second shield makes you slow as hell, so if are a shielder carrying two shields, one in hand and one on your back, isn't good option.

I acctually think it would have been cool if you gained the "body armor" points to your overall points if the shield was in your back. That way shielders could either use a shield infront of them when they feel they need it or put it in their back for extra body armor if they think they can manualblock the attacks but just feel they need more protection than the armor offers.
