Title: Good shooters?
Post by: Artyem on November 22, 2012, 02:52:16 am
I'm looking for a new FPS to keep me occupied, I would enjoy a level of realism and nothing that's going to make my wallet cringe. If anyone has any good suggestions I'd appreciate them.
No to Call of Duty, it's just horrible...

Far Cry 3
Or Dishonored, that's an epic game.
Borderlands 2 is still on discount for a few hours, I believe.

Forget the level of realism and go Planetside 2? It's free, afterall.

Crpg. Its a bit medieval but has quality shooting, albeit there are some stupid noobs using melee in it.

Definitely planetside 2. F2P and has massive battles. What do u mean by lvl of realism though? Like America's army realism, arma realism?

Spec ops: The Line.
You might enjoy it. It has MP, but you should buy/*cough* it for the SP.

If you never played a Red Orchestra game, you might want to grab RO2 in this Autumn sale sometime (it will probably be a 1 day -75% deal. Just checked and its at 50% off now and normal price is cheap)
I was disappointed with it after RO1, but its probably a half decent semi realistic FPS. Get it for multiplayer tho, there is a campaign but its basically the multiplayer maps with bots
They just released a new trailer with their last patch:

Forgot that one. Surprisingly, it's really good singleplayer game. I didn't expect it to be that good.

I loved True Combat Elite, back when people played it. I've just been craving a game where people die when I shoot them.
I played the Planet Side 2 beta for awhile and it was alright but it just wasn't really my cup of tea.

Try Metro2033. Game is amazing. Main character is also named Artyom if thats a plus to you. You alternate between shooting angry mutant monster things and chocolate chip cookie's. Also stealth missions and all that jazz here and there. You should def check it out.

I've never actually played it, but everyone in my TS claims that it's pretty great. I'll have to give a shot one of these days.

System Shock 2. You can die really fast and you are able to climb over obstacles.

Serious sam The first encounter, and second encounter are awesome. But in no way realistic and are singleplayer/ co-op.

ArmA 2 is pretty good if you like realistic warfare, with lots of hilarious bugs.

The last time I played Goldeneye 64 was winter '07, and for some reason it was too hilarious to do anything. The controls were awful (Nintendo 64: possibly the worst controllers a console has ever had)l, the graphics were just big blocky things, and I was under the influence of some research chemical. Best game ever.

Was bored at my other home, so, downloaded Quake2 out of nostalgia... Damn, that game is still so freaking good, even today :o

Well, in other news I purchased Metro 2033 (and six other games) for a low price of $1.00 at humblebundle.com
Pretty sweet deal, it'll be neat to play a game where I'm called by my internet alias outside of cRPG when my clan mates rudely address me with mean slurs...
But yeah, it'll be cool I'm sure.

i bought far cry 3 recently and it's a blast to play, i was really surprised it turned out to be so entertaining. Only minor problem is it's a bit too easy even on the hardest difficulty, but it's still a great sandbox (rc park type) shooter game with a lot of stuff to do in it .
