I need side weapon for my 1h shielder char.
So what is better throwing or should i buy crossbow?
I have mw javelin,5 pt,130 wpf but it is damn inaccurate and usualy i need 2 or 3 hits to kill someone.
If you suggest crossbow, what crossbow should i use?

heavy axes are best anti-cav throwing weapon, hit a unarmored horse thats charging you and you can kill'em pretty easy. Jarids are my 2nd choice due to the missile speed & accuracy, plus pack more armor piercing vs the armored cav

Throwing is nice, but also very expensive (7,2k for Jarids). Heavy Throwing Axes are quite good if gold is an issue.
-
Be aware that both throwing weapons and crossbows/bolts weigh a ton, so you will accelerate considerably slower as a result (you can dump your throwing weapons into cav/infantry early on to compensate for that, of course).
-
Or you could use a fauchard (no wpf required). Very good for the low price.
It's the longest sheathable weapon and it stops horses.

screw horses, they are easy. i want to pew pew infrantry and running archers.

Throwing is better if you have a few skill points to spare, better for group fighting and you have an axe that you can use against other shielders.

Contrary to popular belief, crpg only has three different crossbows.
Are you a dedicated crossbowman? Yes -> Arbalest
No

Heavy throwing axes are the perfect sidearm for 1h. Loom them to +3 and get 4-5 power throw; they will 1-shot peasants, 2-shot archers, and 3-4 shot anyone in less than plate. Headshots are surprisingly common and will one-shot most people that don't have a heavy helm.
Also, the melee secondary mode is highly effective for shieldbreaking and just surprising people (you can switch from throwing mode to melee mode while your throw is chambered; this confuses the hell out of people and often allows a free hit). The short length makes the melee mode very nice in close quarters or on top of a ladder in siege where you don't want to hit teammates with your backswing.
Crossbow is an option too, but throwing just has more synergy with 1h/shield (you can throw with a shield equipped, and you can make good use of the melee secondary mode of throwing axes). Crossbow is probably better for Battle, and throwing is probably better for siege (I assume; I haven't played battle in like 10 gens, I only play siege).

I was sniping with a hunting crossbow and regular bolts with no wpf like a boss. 8-)
-
Regular crossbow is alright iirc, reloads quite fast so you wont be pewpew'ing all round and does decent damage..
-
and you either reload in the open and get sniped, or always have to find cover to reload it. Makes game boring as well.
Great thing with throwing is if you get up to PT4, there is almost ALWAYS ammo around. So even if you are spawning with 2 stacks (6 axes) you'll find about 3-6 more on the ground.

Crossbow and steel bolts is the strongest side weapon per hit. More accurate than throwing, and more shots. It's 2 slots so you need a 1 slot shield. It's the most expensive and reloading will be fairly slow.
Heavy throwing axes or jarids are your best throwing choices. Jarids require one more PT and have less ammo, but they will RUIN people in heavy armor.
Crossbows have more upkeep but minimal stat investment. It's up to you, really. Keep in mind that even with fully loomed xbow/throwing, you won't always 1-hit archers and lightly armed people.
If you can afford to go buckler/heavy xbow/steel bolts with 120-130 wpf, you will surprise the hell out of people with your shots. That's more hybrid than side weapon, though.
