I watched a dev-video, some producer and the lead designer, playing a mission...

Jesus, fuck, that was sooo completely boring and lame. Looks nice, maybe plays nice but the mission design? Hell no, not gonna buy a game which contains of "go there, grab the shotgun, hunt the bears" and the next one is "go there and kill them all". Considering that they showed the game and were all proud... BOOOORING!

Not gonna buy it.

Nah, I am kinda out of pirating things. Dunno, prolly cuz I am actually paying for games since I discovered the awesome offers through those Steam key-sellers. It's kinda sad to see at which prices the games can be sold but just won't... at least not in Germany.
Only thing I download are episodes of series I wanna watch. They tend to show in Germany like 6 months later in TV but we get only the synchronized/dubbed version in TV. The episodes are way better in the OV tho. So I keep downloading them the day after they appear in USA/GB.

Anyway... don't think I gonna pirate FC3. It was a 45 min video, watched it completely cuz I actually was thinking about getting it but not gonna happen. I am not saying it will be a bad game but I am pretty sure it's just mediocre apart from it looks. While you play FC3, I gonna enjoy the awesomeness of the new Hitman... found a cheap deal at a key-seller

What's all you guys who got this impressions so far? Personally loved the singleplayer. Only flaws would be somewhat meh AI, too much derpstep songs and finally could've needed a bit more variety of vehicles.

Otherwise great great game. Okay Co-Op and multiplayer. Great Great GREAT singleplayer with great graphics, great atmosphere, great selection of weapons and pretty entertaining story with some nice plot twists. And great voice acting as well.

Give it definitely a 9/10.

Good game.

Bad AI.

Hate UI and "hints" (wall hack and icons everywhere).

Could be better, if only they made it harder and true survival on an island game.

Then it would be near perfect.

Main story is above average for modern games.

Oh yeah, almost forgot. It's better than Skyrim.

Much better than Skyrim. And no it's not Skyrim with Guns IGN or who the hell said it Q_Q

Absolutely loved it, felt like it was what Far Cry 2 should've been. But unfortunately for me I cannot complete it due to a game breaking bug.

A seriuslly badass game. I usually never play FPS-s, but damn, this game is so much more than that.

Awesome and most of all, a fun game. Haven't played it that much so I don't know if it gets repetitive, but still. I wouldn't mind having more guns to pick from too. Love the story and the main antagonist, crazy fucker. Good voice acting.

Imho could get GOTY.
Title: Re: Far Cry 3
Post by: LordBerenger on December 14, 2012, 09:38:54 am
Nah that's the sad part. It won't get GOTY as it came out too late for GOTY 2012 and all game awards 2012 mostly.

And next year for 2013? Fat chance. With GTA V, newest COD and BATTLEFIELD 4.

Lol great game but shame it was released that late so it wouldn't get any award recognition.

You unlock a new set of guns when you get a mission to go to the second island.  I doubt they unlock without the mission but you could always try just boating down there.

I have to admit that I had my doubts about this game. Shown footage wasn't all that great really but I found a good bargain yesterday and so I got it.

I admit, it's fun until now and especially the stealth gameplay works really well (huge Splinter Cell fan here - well, the first 3 were good, after that...) and I like the cover system. Only thing I don't like that much about it, it doesn't seem to work on trees but guess that's a minor thing.
And it runs surprisingly smooth for me. My rig isn't that good, though my gfx card is decent, I can run it with mostly maxed out settings (high and even ultra, still have to tinker around a little ;) ).

Overall it seems to be pretty good  8-) Oh, and I love the bow although I can't craft special arrows yet, I think. Wonder when I will be able to...

Played the game on and off for long enough to know that it just doesn't hold my attention, I got bored pretty quickly each time and had to quit out and play something else, glad I never wasted my money on it tbh and I uninstalled it already. Not saying it's a BAD game, just nothing about it makes me want to keep playing it.

Frankly it feels to me atleast, that Far Cry 3s devs arent retarded like most devs. I mean from the collectibles and challenges point. In FC 3 doing them acctually gives you some reward. This may be the only game in history were I acctually tried to complete 100% everything. I never get who the fuck gives any shit about collectibles in other games that only give you score that isnt really worth anything, like in assassins creed the "Derplar flags" collecting or stupidass completely pointless "howfastcanyoucomehere?" tipe of challenges like in Prototype. Feels like pointless bullshit that only pointless players give shit about, but not in FC3.

Well what matters is having fun. A virtual reward is fun I admit but not mandatory if the gameplay itself is rewarding.

Didn't I just write that I was wrong? What do you want?! :(

I still think that everything after MW1 was repetitive bullcrap... and yes, except for BLOP2 I actually played them at least half the campaign.

I played this at my friend's place, and got to the Flamethrower part.. and played a bit more.

It's quite obvious which subculture/age group is the target audience of this game..

The music, the drugs..

Playing it with bow only like a badass. Seriously, though, this game is too fucking easy. I haven't even bothered to unlock anything but the bow related stuff, jungle run and some takedown shit and I play it without medicine cause I can't be arsed and still I am not having a hard time on the hardest difficulty. Yet I like playing it, pretty well made.

Those camps with a HMG with 360 turn radius are just silly. Sneak to the gun, hold LMB, do a 360 and the camp is cleared.

Oh, god, i haven't played FC3 yet, but if that is true...

Seriously, fuck that, it is what made DE: HR crap: Make it possible to complete stuff in various ways, then pigeonhole the player into doing the dull (and easy) "stealth" approach by means of XP/points bonuses (that are so huge, that you really need to play the game that way, if you want to unlock skills and shit)...

One should combine stealth with hit and run tactics.

Why? It's more fun&effective that way, I managed to lure a lot of guards away, knifed two, then started trolling the rest and they moved to one spot, and I ended their lifes with a single grenade. We are talking about.. 6 guards here.

No reason to be 100% stealthy, you can't pull that off anyway, you have to pull the trigger sometimes even if you don't want to, or else you die.

This game seemed to be very easy though, compare this "hard" mode with Far Cry 1's hardest mode.. that one gives me nightmares still.

Actually, full stealth is the more difficult approach so getting a bonus for it is just fine.

This is like playing Splinter Cell, Metro2033, or Hitman, and then getting pissed when you are supposed to be sneaky. Not every game that has guns is call of duty. In this game you are some young douche from california who probably pissed and shat himself at least twice in the opening sequence of the game, or the events leading up to it. You are not supposed to be someone who knocks people out with the weight of their ballsack and deflects bullets with proper use of their chest hair. Not until later at least.

Also, play on hard mode for once. Bullets hurt.
Title: Re: Far Cry 3

Splinter Cell and Hitman ARE meant for stealth, metro is a lot easier if you use stealth.

Totally different games.

Far Cry should be free on choice however you prefer unlike splinter cell and hitman. (Well in hitman you have choice too.)
Title: Re: Far Cry 3

Thing is it doesn't matter. As number 1. You got to do more singleplayer missions to unlock newer talents.

And number 2. Gaining new skill points to spend at is easy.

Way to miss the point by a kilometer.

Call of Duty is a mindless shooter on rails, completely unrelated.

These sort of games are supposed to let you play them however you want (or see fit). If you are "supposed" to play sneaky, then make it so by use of making it either super difficult to play it any other way or by means of objectives. Not by means of discriminatory XP/point rewards. Giving twice as much XP or whatever for a stealth kill is outright retarded.
See: Deus Ex, the original vs Deus Ex: HR.

Anyway, i was just commenting on the principle, since i haven't yet played FC3 (as i said already).
Title: Re: Far Cry 3

You will unlock 75% of all skills by the middle of the game or something either way. I understand the point you make (DE:HR) but it's not as dramatic in FC3 in comparison.
