Title: Overclocking. (halp)
Post by: Christo on January 06, 2011, 07:29:08 am
Hey guys, my gameplay sucks hard when I enter the crowd, no matter what setting, it's an unplayable mess. So I thought I'll overclock my CPU a bit, dunno if it'll help though.

My specs:
C2duo E4500 (2,2GHZ), I would like to OC it to 2,5-6 GHZ Max.
8800GTS
2GB RAM.

I know there are some wizards who know how to do this, please halp me. I don't want to burn that thing.
Thankee.

overclocking does help me, I have a core2quad 8200 that normally runs at 2.33 but I run it at 2.98 GHZ with the RAM running at 1700 MHZ, I can do 3.15 GHZ at 1800 MHZ but theres no need for it so I don't

what kind of motherboard, I'd recommend looking how hot you are running and checking out your mobo site to see what kind of stuff other people are doing

a mild overclock like what you want is definitely possibility, just depends, what kind of RAM(DDR1-3)

Asus P5K Motherboard, As far as I know, they are DDR3s. Or twos.
Well, I would like to push it to a safe limit, to get the highest performance with this. Fighting with a slideshow-effect is meh.

Edit: I found a guide on the web, I OC-d to 2,7 GHZ, the game is very SMOOTH, I mean.. SMOOTH.
Only problem is that my CPU is a bit hot with this setting. But the OC-ing works really.
Maybe I'll tone it down to 2,6, or 2,5 GHZ.

By the way, An idle 50 temp. is alright? If yes, I'll use 2,6, works very well.

Yours is idle at 50 Fahrenheit? Mine is idle at 82 Fahrenheit.

Celsius.

That's quite hot, mine is only at 28 Celsius, and it already operates as a heater in my house.

I'm playing on my trusty laptop. Old macbook pro, but nontheless.

my settings are Everything set to lowest:
DX7
res 1400x900
16 bit color

It works.. but it aint pretty :-)

Getting a pretty steady 60fps though.

There's nothing better.
Sadly.

Especially when it comes to multiplayer RPG genre, I just can't get into ANY game now.

This directional combat and stuff spoiled me. I think I'm not alone with this, though.

Anyway, I'm locking this thread now.
