after patch

13pd/110wpf with considerable damage and controllable in mid range
 
str archers are still slow-moving barbettes

Yes.


This is, of course, subject to change in a future patch as with but a very small tweak they can fix the currently broken formula and raise the sweet spot from 13PD to a higher (and thus unattainable) number.

What are the rules for archery since the patch? 10 PD Isn't the "max" (4 skill levels above required PD) damage bonus?

Kinda regret I didn't stick with my 8 PD / 8 PS archer. 12 Agility and light armor is enough to keep you mobile.

You won't get banned but from my understanding 13 PD doesn't mean that you'll have pin point accuracy and high damage. You're better of staying at a maximum of 10PD due to the new calculation bringing;

The calculation currently should be 14*PD - 1.4^PD. It's a non-issue now.

I'm sure you could get more wpf by putting those extra 15 points into agility and then WM. That's... what 57wpf rounded.

PD11 is now the worst build, above that you decrease the wpf penalty slightly but you won't have much wpf anyway because you don't have much agi. The optimal attainable build is somewhere between I'd say PD5 and PD10.

but the key point is that the crosshair with 110wpf seems more accurate than before

Technically it is since the original calculation would have reduced your wpf further. 15*PD was the original calculation therefore;

You're technically (at 10PD) 39 wpf better off than you were before, thus it was a nice buff to strength archers, making them more viable! :)

Very frustrating to try and make a decent build now.. impossible to know what will be useless in the future.

Should I go for my lvl 33 30/15 10PD 5ATH 5WM now? Its a long way from lvl 32 to 33 ..

I appreciate the effort trying to "fix" archery , but to me it only looks like som new nerfs got implemented.

I think any reworking of archery must clearly seperate it from crossbowing.

THIRTEEN power draw is not OP. The PD maxes out at +4 the bow's requirement, so the extra PD is doing nothing--you just have less athletics and WM.

If your arrow flys faster, it results in more dmg when u hit the target.

Still not as much as the 14% increase in damage from each PD point, and you only have one athletics. Try running from people and horses and shooting your bow slowly.

It's for that reason that I just said screw it on my STF and went Powerstrike over Athletics. At least I can kind of defend myself with a hand axe or bore the enemy to death with blox.
