Title: Assassin's Creed III
Post by: Andy on November 01, 2012, 04:35:58 am
Whenever I play this, and then go play c-rpg, it makes me really miss the parkour aspects of it. I always find myself wanting to swing around a pole, or vault a wall in c-rpg momentarily before remembering that I can not. What are your opinions of Assassin's Creed III, and how it compares to Warband/c-rpg?

I'm enjoying it quite a bit.  Best AC game I've played.

Don't really think it is in any way comparable to M&B though, heh.

Oh, FRIGGIN NAVAL BATTLES ARE AWESOME.

I loved the first one, the second one was objectively better but lacked the magic, haven't played any AC after that.

AC is one of the few game franchises which I think gets significantly better with subsequent game releases. Haven't tried AC3 yet and will probably buy it towards the end of the month.

Fixed. Its getting better with each release yes, but id say the progress is slow as ass. Those 3 games that told Ezios story were basically the same shit with minimal improvements but different locations and story. I think I would have been pissed if I acctually bought all of them.

PS: There is also AC for the handheld consoles that speak bit of Altairs story, if anyone is interested.

Anyone tried the Multi?  I assume it's more of the same.

At the end of the game it's revealed that the assassin is George Washington and he drops a dollar bill with his face on it in front of the last target before he kills him.

Or at least that's how I want to imagine how the game will end.

Ubisoft's pushing the AC series too far. Next one will surpass us in time at this rate...

AC could become my one of the most favourite series. But game difficulty destroys it all. I cant even call it casual, its godmode. And devs dont want to give players option to choose difficulty level because of some stupid principle.

Funny thing is, AC was this ruined kind of games. Almost perfect game destroyed for me because of difficulty. Why using stealth, why running away and having cool chase on roofs, why using all this badass assassin equipment if you can just...kill everything?

Reminds me of Hitman 2.
I guess the answer to your question would be simple - for fun. Can't judge though cause i haven't played it yet. Gotta agree that AC series in general lack challenge and variety when it comes to actual assassinations and missions.

AC is way too easy I agree. Especially the climbing and stuff. Just running into a wall shouldn't magically make me climb it. I assume that's what the devs wanted in the first place, giving the player a sense of freedom just running through a city like it's a football field.

Forgot about this. Whilst this is true Ezio was very likeable so I don't mind and I personally loved all the areas it visited so I hardly noticed the repetitiveness. And to be honest, after the first AC none of the others feel remotely repetitive in comparison.

Once you unlock counters as well you can stomp everything no problem. Even the higher tier soldiers only require slightly more effort.

Anyway I've got AC3 on order but it isn't out yet on PC. Waiting patiently for the release date.

Ok got this through the post today. Started installing over 2 hours ago. Still going. Took a while to install from disc (17gb), then find out there's an update to dl and for obvious reason the servers must be crammed and the dl is slow and even though it was only 100mb it took over an hour to dl. Then find out there's lots of updating to do with uplay. Same problem dling is slow because of slow servers. Uplay dls one update, 30 mins, installs and then decides to do another update, another 30 mins. Now waiting to see if I finally get to play after this update. Over 2 hours of updating and not even in the game yet. It'll be closer to 3 hours by the time I make it in.

Very close to shelving it.

I'm on Sequence 5 and the best/most exciting thing about the game so far was getting to fly around as an eagle for like 2 minutes.

It's more of the same, now with 200% more cutscenes.

Pretty much. But tbh it's easy gaming and I enjoy more of the same. It's the history I come for, not so much the gameplay. I thought the opening mission in the Royal Opera house was fantastic. I was there a couple years so it was a nice touch especially the atmosphere. The story, as far as I can tell, is progressing better, though I'm a little peeved I know I won't get to play as Kenway much longer. He is pretty cool and from what I have read Connor is pretty bland. As you can tell I'm only an hour or so into the game.

I genuinely hope they won't stick to this region for to many more titles though. The older historical cities were a lot more interesting. Although the terrain is nice, it's no where near as exciting as jumping around famous buildings of Rome, Jerusalem, Istanbul ect.
