Title: [Battle Servers] Balance in the first round
Post by: Dexxtaa on April 19, 2011, 09:23:21 pm
Why not at the beginning of every map, there be a 20 second pre-round warm up.

At the end of this 20 second round, the teams balance into round 1.

Other games do this, so it would make sense in this game too, what with BannerBalance

Sometimes in the first round off a new map the balance is really off, because of players downloading the map or just loading slowly etc. It's really agonizing to lose your fat multiplier in a bloody massacre because one team is way stronger the first round, and then balance being fine the second round.

So yeah the balance should be good the first roundtoo , so if a short warm-up is required to attain that, then +1 for this idea.

I can't imagine anybody being against this idea, what with the good chance to lose your precious 5x multiplier you just built up from the previous map.

I don't get it. What does the warm up do? Is this just to make sure everyone loads into the game? Because isn't part of the balance calculated by people's kills after the first round?

I do agree that the first round is always screwy.

I found out that sitting out on first round of new map on x5 is not actually a bad idea at all :P :) But anyways, anything to make the teams somewhat equal even for the first round, it really can get annoying to lose multi cause of some random splitup.

Cos I thought this was the suggestions corner

Part of the balance considers K/D and level (gross exp per character).

So the warm up round will allow everyone to load onto a team, then the balance will balance people based on gross EXP and banner.

Since the K/Ds all around will be 0-0, it won't really have to consider the K/D ratio of the combatants.

+1 for this. Many times I would go spectate on the first round of the map because of the completely random teams. Maybe not 20 seconds, but 10 seconds seeing as those downloading the map will only download it once anyway.

The balance doesn't really balance out team because iv been on the losing team and it swaps our best players leaving us against Tor, Atez and the likes so its not very fair

Also im all for this idea the warm-up would be good for some people to work out what to do depending on the map. (yes I know most of the time they just meet in the middle and just kill) but for those who do work as a team this would be a nice addition to the game. plus give time for people to load the map (those who have crappy comps)

all in all its a +1 from me
