My cousin says that most people have no idea what their Social Security number is off hand.  Help me prove him wrong/right.   EU guys do you have c=something like this if so do you know it off hand.  feel free to vote yess if you do.

Everyone over the age of 10 should know their social security number, it's needed on everything nowadays.

Has your cousin ever had a job? Applied to college? Filled out any sort of standardized paperwork?

I would say the first time that a person goes to fill out one of these standardized forms they learn their social security number, just from the sheer number of times they have to write it.

Actually yes.  And apparently he just gets it off his drivers license when he needs it.   Fucking weird.

On another note, if you are 18+ you should know it. It's required for more or less everything as that number is...well...it represents you. You aren't a name, you are a number!

Also, if you know someone born same Month and year, you can accurately guess their SSN. My buddy, born 5 days after me has more or less the same SSN as me...

In Germanyland you have an extra social security id card, but you don´t need it that often.  if you start a new job, then they will make a copy of it and that´s it.
the number itself is not that difficult to keep, it is a combination of your date of birth, the first letter of your surname and some random numbers
