Title: Negotiate strat battle times
Post by: Digglez on October 22, 2012, 10:41:25 am
So the idea popped into my head. In medieval times, armies basically knew the routine was fight at first light.  They' get their breakfast, gear up and head onto the field of battle.
Also in another realm v realm game I played that had scheduled battles, Pirates of the Burning Sea, all fights were LIMITED to that server's prime-time.

After attackers have initiated an attack, Why not let attackers PROPOSE a time to schedule a fight. (must be between 24-48h after initiation~).
Defenders have the option to
Refuse
Accept
Counter with a different time.

I think this would make it alot more fun if 2 forces could pick an opportune time for a battle (prime time during weekdays or daytime during weekend) so that everyone is able to participate.  Obviously this is completely voluntary on the part of the defenders.

No. War does not let the sides chose, one just attacks, second one has to defend themselves. Any time, any day. Its war afterall.

I like the idea. One problem I can think of though would be if the defenders simply didn't choose an option and just let the msg sit there.

I guess that could be fixed with a time out to the message, then it auto accepts for them.

It's a game after all.

Attacker should choose 2 or three times,  and the defender agrees to one of them within 2 hours of being attacked.  otherwise option 1 of attacker will be set as attack time.

this could be implemented with a simple check-box system.

Your choice to get up at early morning/stay awake at night. Not like anyone is forcing you. For some of us the weird battle times work fine as in the primetimes we might be at work, with our families and such. So, again, NO.

Would make the management much more complicated, as its not only one battle at a time. What happens if 3 or 4 battles are started around the same time?

nothing different than what already happens, whoever schedules time first gets dibs.  Other battles happen in chronological order.  Dont make it over complicated.  Could easily work in a system where when attacker suggests time, UI displays open time slots for them.

I like this suggestion, good example of why this is needed is I have an upcoming battle scheduled to begin at 5am, due to the defenders nighttime being 21:00 to 05:00, delaying the attack was not an option as the enemy were getting away on the strat map.  I see no reason why the attackers shouldn't be allowed to choose a time outside of the defenders night time hours to commence the attack, so long as there is a limit on how much leeway they have (say max 6 hours) to prevent exploiting by locking down armies for longer for no roster related reason.
