Post by: owens on October 20, 2012, 12:11:03 pm
So recently I have been trying to RP an Ancient Roman.

Unfortunately we don't have any of the necessary  gear so...

Edit: NVM most body armor now doesn't even look like Roman Armor. Maybe try Brown Rus Lamellar Armor.

My favorite gear setup besides Tincan armor set.

Every man and woman should fear the Gottland helmet, for it is the face of the almighty Applesauce.

Some say that underneath his helmet, is just a downgraded version of the first helmet...

late roman was after the germanic tribes had been conquered and absorbed by the empire.

So basically you're thinking of western roman empire? Nah we only got Zzzzz-ish Eastern so far.

Doubt they'll ever add them as well. Was some Roman mod for WB i played some year ago but seems to be gone now.

You could try RP a limitanei(dunno if spelled right, but it refers to the local militias protecting the borders of the empire)
you could use equipements like Peltastos Armor,ankle boots, round shield, war spear, nordic swords and  Fur Hat

Picture for limitanei(on the right):

I thought late because of no traditional roman segmented armour I forgot the damn round shields.

I will use board, pilum and a short sword so maybe early roman with the chain armour?

Nothing close to the lorica segmentata in the mod and there will never be, so you can't really be the stereotype legionnaire. The use of lorica segmentata was most likely not all that common anyway, just popularized by the media. Skoutatos armor is as close as you're ever going to get to looking like a roman. To really get the roman vibe going though you need a roman banner, cause the shield does so much for the look.

It is a new player group so once the server is up..

The idea is that we have a few themed battles once a month you know.

Thanks for all the help.
