Archers with a war bow or a long bow should have the option to press "x" to make their bow a melee weapon. It could be used quickly to block, like if someone snuck up on you. It shouldn't do much damage at all, though, but be used mostly for blocking. If a wooden stick can block an attack, I think a bow could!
A head armor that I think should be added is like a mask thing, except that it doesn't cover all the face. It could maybe be like a horseshoe shaped piece of metal that covers the forehead and down the two cheeks. I'd like something like that so that I can have some head armor WHILE showing my hair and face and stuff.

sorry, i had to have a laugh, on a serious note, the bow would break, it just isn't strong enough to take such a blow, or to deal it for that matter...

What about a wooden stick, torch, practice sword, etc?

I have been saying this for ages....Staffs, sticks, clubs can block Pole Axes, and we have to assume "blocking" means deflecting the blow, since a poleaxe would leave your staff as 2 nice sticks if u tried an ACTUAL block Warband style, so....
....why not bows? Im fine with them doing 5 or 10 blunt dmg, or EVEN no melee at all, just let me block with it, would be possible to show what "mode" its in also by swapping hands, or using polearm stance (both hands on the bow).
Since its light it will suffer "stuntime" when blocking most big weapons anyway, and only skilled players will be able to use this to survive...

yeah, that's a fair enough comment, the practice sword would probably be able to take on another sword without breaking, an axe, probably not, the torch with it's thickness would probably be alot stronger than you think, some of the other weapons would be able to take a swing from the side, a swing from above would probably break it, as for the bow, it would not be able to take the force at all, a swing from a weapon would push it back and you would take a hit, it probably wouldn't even break because it's too flimsy...

Bows were made of yew, horn, bone, or other material that was flexible enough to be bent. Nothing you would want to rely on to parry a blow. Whereas the handles of polearms were made from sturdier and denser woods like ash which can take a real beating. Especially when you are doing the 2 types of blocks used in C-RPG where the energy of the striking blow would be transferred throughout the length of the weapon as well as your arms. A bow doesn't have that surface density to absorb a blow.

Using the bow as a weapon and to block would be fine, that is how it was used in real life...sometimes even to stab with. Unlike most people on c-rpg or warband, I am a real archer as well as a Kendoka. :)

Devs already said no to this idea. You cna go find the quote if you'd like. Bows will not get melee option.

pure archers would get to nice buff imo and people would be taking more stacks of arrows resulting in more ranged spam, i'm against it... and i have a pure archer alt that i play more than my main lately.

But I've never understood why every helm obscures all hair.

Archers who melee with their bow would be even more OP than bloody throwing lances.
They choose to build an archer, yet QQ when they don't have enough time to pull a melee wep out to fend off a backslasher. It is their responsibility to look around, and observe dangers.
Basically, this would defeat the weakness of becoming an archer..

We could cut the bowstring, bend the bow back against itself, and flick people...and they think we are annoying now, just imagine running around taunting and flicking a tincan!!!!!!!

False. Archers don't have horses ! Horse archers do. It's not the same category of people at all ! Don't put us archers in the same category as thoses cavs wannabee.
On another note, just "NO" to this idea. Just carry a melee weapon and have enough timing to block the first attack with it, and it will be fine.
