Retreated from Samarra with 650+ troops. Had no idea that I would be losing all my men. If anything perhaps losing 1/5 of an army that retreated from a siege due to desertion would be fair with me, but the whole army disbanding is silly due to it saying retreats with all men.
If this bug has been around for a while, my apologies upfront for not knowing.
Thanks for your time.

10) looting system has been changed. no more randomness. at the end of a battle, the winner receives all of the goods of the loser. the items that were used receive a penalty of -2 to it's loom level and are distributed 25% to the loser, 50% to the winner.
11) retreating is actually surrendering, all rules of #10 come into effect
It's annoying that it still say retreating instead of surrendering but I guess it's one of the new features implemented in strat 4.

Can an army still gain troops when the defender surrenders? I always thought that was kinda dumb.

why would they change that to surrender? that removes all tactical application to it. it turns every attack into an all or nothing no retreat scenario which makes no sense.
this also removes most of the diplomacy from the situation because it forces the attacker to commit instead of being able to negotiate for terms. the attacker has to attack or they lose everything.

Retreating is basically surrendering, but for some reason devs still call it retreating... give it the proper name please so players know what they get.

If you're a defender of a siege and you 'retreat' you are actually surrendering.
But if an attacking army has your castle sieged, and they decide the battle's not going as they intended and walk away, they aren't losing anything. It's not like the defenders came out and captured the spawn of the attackers...you don't all walk up to the castle walls and throw the peace flag up (That would be surrendering, not retreating).
If an attacker in a siege retreats, they shouldn't be considered "surrendering"...one of the dumbest things I've seen in strategus so far.
I could see if it's an open field battle and one side "retreats" they would be surrendering (possibly), but change the wording to surrender, versus retreat then...
