Title: Repair option for strategus gear.
Post by: Haboe on October 05, 2012, 11:30:56 am
Its a simple suggestion:

Add a blacksmith in each fief. You pay him XX% of the basic item price (no discount) to give back 1 loomlevel you lost on the equipment.
So after a battle you started with +0 gear, you will end with a lot of -2 gear. Then you are able to repair it, but only if the fief can produce that tier equipment.
so if a fief can make +2 rus bows, you can repair your rus bows as far as to +2. I suggest 10% of item price per repair.

So it you have -3 pikes, and you are in a fief that produces +3 pikes, you can repair them all the way to +3 for 60% of the item price. This is not always usefull, since many fiefs have discount on items. So if there is a discount of 50% on pikes in this situation, you will not repair but simply buy new ones.

Good idea. Repair should be only possible up to the level the fief can sell or maybe only up to +0.

Up to the level the fief can sell :P

So if you have -4 gear, you can always repair up to -2. If you have -2 gear, you can only make it to +0 if the fief sells +0
But when it sells +3 you should be able to repair to +3, since the blacksmith has the knowledge to do so  8-)

Truly an excellent idea. Armour and weapons would be used many times without them becoming useless, this is a feature that strategus NEEDS.

[edit] Might need tweeking for horses, since they're flesh and blood, rather than iron and steel.

Then they will get a vet as well xD

If you get them back at -2 they are like.. dunno crippled or something? The vet can patch them up to the well bred animals they once were :P

Do we need more on the list beside a blacksmith and vet to make this convincing?

I Like this idea as well if your deep in enemy lands  your going to need this option Plus this will make people travel with gold instead of storing it some were before they go to war

Good idea, but I would prefer 15% of the price in the item. That way a full repair (from -4 to +3) would never be worth it, and it would be worth it less often. (or maybe have the repairman specialise in a type of weapon/material)

bump for inventory management!

also, very cool that stuff is actually salvaged after a fight, makes it way more fun when stuff gets a % chance to be reused
