It has come to my attention that only members of the faction that is fighting can use the battalion flag system in Strategus battles. The only reason I can think of for implementing such a thing is to prevent the trolling of commanders by fucking with their flags. I'm pretty sure that is basically not an issue, nobody is that much of a dick. Correct me if I'm wrong.
It creates a new problem though. Smaller factions who do not happen to have anyone present that can or wants to command will appoint a willing outsider to command for them. This is really common for a lot of factions. These appointed commanders though, are unable to use the flag system. Which is rather important, especially because these smaller clans mostly have to rely on random signups as mercs instead of having somewhat disciplined clan players fighting for them. Having a clear marker like a flag makes it all so much easier
Enable battalion flag use for everyone, nobody is going to troll and it would help an appointed commander a lot.

Best would be to allow to choose whether to allow non-faction members to use flags or not, i guess, but, yeah, i agree.

Yeah, I tried using flags in the battle for Amashke today also and it didn't work for me too. It should be allowed for all, because many small clans don't have a good member to command or some clan members didn't join the clan yet.
There could also be an option on the roster page to set the commander for the battle.

Seriously though, it could be abused if everyone could do it, but maybe there should be a checkbox for people who are allowed to use the flags, sort of like a "commander" function. Shouldn't be hard to code? Just make all faction members commanders by default and allow setting of a commander group, then change the restriction from group only to commanders only. Pretty easy sounding to me?

Or don't sign up people to your roster who would troll you.
I say let everyone do it, I think it's annoying.
