Title: A build i can finally stick with?
Post by: Zander131 on October 02, 2012, 01:33:13 am
I have about 6 or 7 characters (didnt choose a main yet) all in low to mid 20s, and an archer at 26. Ive been playing for around 8 months and have never retired a character because i jump all over the place... Thrower one week, Archer the next, polearm, shielder, crossbow, 2h ect. My indecisiveness is bugging me so im here to ask for help with a build.

So can you guys give me some builds where i can go from going pewpew off roofs one day to melee the next? I play a lot of DTV and some battle.

Tips for gear with a build would be great also.

Bow most likely. Coming back to xbow from archer makes it feel so damn slow now

Hmm, you wont have alot of bow wof but maybe 18/18 would work...

 max pd/ps/wm
As much as you canin athletics and the rest in Shield..
100/110 Wpf in 1h/rest bow

The build generater is off atm so i cqnt make an exact build for you.. :/

Ah:
 Level 30 (4 420 577 xp)

Strength: 18
Agility: 18
Hit points: 53
Skills to attributes: 2
Ironflesh: 0
Power Strike: 6
Shield: 5
Athletics: 6
Riding: 0
Horse Archery: 0
Power Draw: 6
Power Throw: 0
Weapon Master: 6
One Handed: 100
Two Handed: 1
Polearm: 1
Archery: 141
Crossbow: 1
Throwing: 1

You will have no IF though but better give up IF then pay in shield skill/athletics.

Allthough im not sure if i distributed the wpf good, you can also try something like 110/130

If you want to be a ranged/melee hybrid you should consider this strong slasher build :

18/21

IF: 3
PS: 6
ATH: 7
WM : 7

2h or Pol : 90-110  (Or 1h if you want a shield but go 15/21 => if:5 ps:5 shield:5 ath:7 wm:7)
Xbow : 140-145

Armor : Medium/Light tier armor  (Body: between 11 and 13 kg, head : between 1.8 and 2.1 kg, hand : between 0.5 and 0.9 kg, leg : between 1.4 and 2.1)
Weapons :

-Crossbow+bolts and 2 slot weapon (I would suggest a slashing 2h around 6k golds like Morningstar)

Xbows are in general a lot better than bows for hybrid build, mainly because you only need wpf to use them and melee wpf is not really important. There is almost no difference between 140 and 110 wpf, just a little more damage.

If you want to use a bow because you don't like the "reload" thing you could try :

15/21

IF: 5
PS: 5
PD: 5  (Go to 6 Pd only if you want to use a Rus/Long bow, otherwise it's not worth it at all)
ATH: 7
WM: 7

1h or 2h : 75-90 (or 50 if you go for 6 PD)
Archery: 145-155

Armor : Light armor (body : 5.5-9.1 Kg, head: NO HELMETS FOR ARCHERS, hand: 0.5-0.9, Leg: 0.3-0.8)
Weapons :

Ranged : Horn bow + x2 Tatar arrows (or bodkin but if you want to win golds keep the cut damage)   OR   Rus/Long bow + x1 Arrows
Melee : 1 slot weapon (i suggest 2h as there is really good cheap two handed with 1 slot like Mace, Military Sickle, or Langes messer)

This build would be really powerful once loomed, and still strong without Masterwork weapons.
The choice between 5 or 6 PD depend on if you want to focus on killing archers, or infantry. If you want to kill other archers you need 6 PD and a rus or long bow for the missile speed otherwise they will kill you.

There is a lot of hybrid builds you could go for, just try to find the playstyle you enjoy the must and stick with it till lvl 31 and then change.

Hope it helped.

Regards,

GuiKa

Shielder/archer? Hell no!

If you are thinking about hybrid archer I would advice you to ask tips from Guard_Tennenoth. He uses long bow and langes messer (in 2h mode). I assume you want to stick with one build to higher than lvl 30? If that's the case Tenne could have good tips for you.

It is easiest to hybrid melee and ranged with a crossbow. Upkeep might be an issue, but you can play fairly cheap with medium armor and 1h/shield/xbow/plain bolts. Archery is really restrictive because it requires a high investments of stats. Throwing works about as well as xbow, but you can only use that at medium or closer range.

My advice is to play a hybrid on your main, and keep a Skip The Fun with lots of gear around for when you feel like playing something different.

edit: Lance cavalry can perform fairly well as spear or pike infantry, but you won't have room in your build for ranged.

well you dont like crossbow but still im am gonan put this one up
very fun but only accurate at medium to close range but this is so fun with a mallet and crossbow

    Strength: 27
    Agility: 12

    Ironflesh: 6
    Power Strike: 9
    Athletics: 4
    Weapon Master: 4

    Two Handed: 103
    Crossbow: 110

but yeah building a meele archer youre gonna have less attributes and more skillpoints so i guess it where to go somthing like this

    Strength: 15
    Agility: 21

    Ironflesh: 5
    Power Strike: 5
    Athletics: 7
    Power Draw: 5
    Weapon Master: 7

    Two Handed: 92
    Archery: 150

and yeah this build is build for the hornbow and a meelewepon i would say fighting axe or military sickle
otherwise you should fuck around with this http://infinitum.dyndns.org/crpg/calc.htm (http://infinitum.dyndns.org/crpg/calc.htm)

Play only with class and weapons you're good at.
As you've tried everything you should know now.

Im a gen 19 archer at lvl 33, here is a build that works well for me

    lvl: 30
    Strength: 18
    Agility: 21

    Ironflesh: 0
    Power Strike: 6
    Athletics: 4
    Power Draw: 6
    Weapon Master: 7

    Two Handed: 50
    Archery: 165

This isnt one of those pussy ass kite builds, so if u dont want to melee dont do this build

i would do a polearm/xbow build. with this build you shouldnt get bored before 31 and can basically play all classes. want to chill and snipe? you can do that. want to pike and support teamates? you can do that. want to charge with full armor like some 2h str loser? you can do that too. want to maul? got that covered as well. this is good first build. plus u can even put 3 points in cav and become a lancer or xbow/cav . no accuracy penalty if your horse is standing still

If you want game play varation but still want to level one character you should consider going cavalry.
Because if you have enough riding, strength and powestrike, you can be:

light/heavy 1H cav
light/heavy Lancer
light/heavy Crossbow cav

That's 6 classes right there.

From horseback you don't need wpf in polearm or 1H.
So you could instead invest 100% of your wpp into 2H, as 2H is the best for melee duels.

While on ground, you can still perform well with a pike or a longspear, they don't really need wpf either.
Same with long maul (polearm crushtrough), which can be funny sometimes.

On ground you loose slight speed and damage with 0 mpf.

Sorry for the late reply, Ive been looking at the whole melee archer hybrid and decided it really does gimp me so ive been throwing around another idea of a high Agi 1h/buckler+xbow build. (Ive gotten over my xbow-phobia) Any thoughts on how this could work out?

You know that you can use Skip The Fun char (http://c-rpg.net/index.php?page=charskipthefun)? Which is on lvl 30 without grinding and can be respeced whenever you want? Personally I don't see the point of having 7 alts when you can have any build just respeccing STF char.
