I'm still not sure which one of those i should pick for my mauler considering to maybe buy the MW version of the chosen one. The thing is Mallet is faster but does less dommage leading overheads to be more often 2 hits kills then 1 hits and forget about 1 hit body shots but the 3 speed gain makes you more reliable when facing multiple enemies?

I only use Mallet over Great Maul if I'm going over 24 strength.
Once you hit 30 or so strength the Mallet is just so much better, indisputably.

Great maul if you are going pure mauler.
Mallet if you want to have a 2 slot sidearm like a greatsword or something.
-
what turmoil said, if you have enough PS (best full strength) to crushthrough reliably with mallet, take mallet.

I found myself reliably CT with a Mallet when I had 24 STR.
I found myself reliably CT with a GM when I had 21 STR.
The Mallet is longer and faster, so it becomes better than the GM the more slower you get. At 24, they are equally good, at 27 Mallet is better because of the extra reach and speed, and at 21 GM is better since the Mallet doesn't CT on most things.
Note: The Mallet doesn't CT on everything at 24 STR. Huscarl and steel shield will stop it, but all weapons and most of the shields it will CT on, unless you are getting negative speed bonus.

If the Great Maul is not powerful enough, you should consider trying this, for ultimate overkill:
