I'm building a "pure" 1-H shielder
I want to know what the trade off of putting a few points into polearm would be.
I would lose some speed and damage on my 1-H but how much. It would lower wpf of 1-H from say 145-165 depending on how much agi I go with to a bit lower but allow me to carry a polearm as sidearm with 80-100 wpf.
How much is the trade off in efficiency of doing this for the 1-H? Is it marginal or quite noticable what I lose in 1-H capacity or not?
I'm thinking that if I go with more agi and higher WM I can afford this better than a build that focuses more on str but is that a good idea?
I enjoy having the option of a polearm but what are the pros and cons exactly?

Played as a 1h without shield with 140 wpf. Anything from 120 up is fine, a 100 even. Don't worry about the wpf, what I would worry about is the lower IF you can go because you need high WM and the higher weight and upkeep from carrying another weapon. It's true dat 1h is not great against cav, but just be aware and block lances. Occasionally you can even do ye old jump rightswing and kill a few lancers.
PS is important though if you're using a cut damage weapon, you're going to want atleast 6, preferably 8. Blunt and pierce is fine at any PS.
Wait, what do you mean exactly with a 'pure' 1h if your character has a shield aswell as a polearm?

"pure" 1-H and shield.
But with 100-120 WPF in 1H one can afford some points in Polearm.

If you get the timing right you can kill horses with 1 wpf. Its safer with 50-100 though.

Dunno, you need to sacrifice some of skill points then. As hoplite you need a lot of agi,but keep in mind that you need also at least 6 ps to be effective with cutting 1handers.
I had same thought, but in the end i don't think it will pay off. Better go pure 1h or pure hoplite tbh.

I will go 123 wpf 1H and 98 wpf 2H. Works fine.

My main has 127 1h wpf with 44 polearm wpf. (it was because of something that I was talking to another member about and possibly being longspear support or hoplite support. I abandoned the idea but still have the polearm wpf regardless.)
It can definitely be done but you'll need more wm to get a decent amount of wpf for both, especially as a hoplite build.
