Title: Most efficient and priceworthy heavy armour of the top ones...
Post by: juv95hrn on September 16, 2012, 04:06:42 am
Do  you want 8 extra head armour or the top 59 body protection or save a lot of upkeep by going for one of the "cheaper" ones? Money seems to be plentiful in the game in the long run so I figure I might as well buy on of the very best ones. Just not sure if those last armour points that cost 1000's of gold each are worth it or not. What says the experts?

I tend to think the heaviest you want to go if you want to swing well is heraldic transitional.

Oh, I didn't know it was a difference.

This is for a 1H-2H CAV character. I'll use it occasionally with a shield in sieges and in battle on horse. Swinging well is not that important to me.

Also I have a Pronoia armour for 14000 with 48 body armour so the new armour needs to substantially better for it to be worth it. I'm not sure I should invest in it since upkeep will be a pain. Maybe better to buy a heavy warhorse or save the money?

the point is having an armor that you can afford all the time.

Find a good one you can substain and loom it. It will have the same protection as a heavier one without the price.

prononia armor seems like a good choice btw...nice style, good stats and it's also rather rare on the market and thus worth more than lets say a loomed heavy kuyak...

Stop worrying about stupid shit like min/maxing "what is best armor" type of stuff.
There isn't one. There is only armors that are somewhat better for specific playstyles. Find what fits you.

Oh, and style matters way more than anything else regarding armor.

Sarranid guard armor is best stats wise armor in game.
Heraldic tranny slows you a lot,and it is very expencive.

Sarranid Guard Armor, easiest way to spot a min/maxer. Those using an ugly armor for that weight/body armor ratio.

Sarranid Armor really a good buy

It´s way better than Pronoia Armor, as only 2 points less (torso) armor and costs 400 gold less upkeep.

Of course Kuyak has even better stats, but you look like a bum with it

Nice quote here

Also Varangopoulos Armor is a nice one (without the ugly bascinet), but too expensive for 24/7 use

Heavy kuyak. It's what all the cool kids use.

This 100%, I'm currently the only one rocking a Zitta Bascinet with Faceplate/Sipahi Yawshan combo on NA and it feels pretty good.  8-)

As much body armor as you can afford, while still looking good.

That in my opinion is the best armor. So it depends on your other gear....

Oh one more thing, it needs to be balanced against your agility too. Heavy armor reduces your movement.

Find that comfortable breakpoint where you are still fast enough as well as able to take hits.

Thanks. That's good advice. To do this however I need to at least once try one of the heavier armours and compare. "I tend to think the heaviest you want to go if you want to swing well is heraldic transitional." is good advice too.

Worrying about wether you get hit more in the head or the body is apparantly too much concern. I think I will just go for one that I find very unattractive and can't afford because that's what people do. I'll also find what fits me without playing with that armour. Seems legit.
