Title: Help: Editing Terrain increases the filesize dramatically
Post by: Cohen on April 13, 2011, 01:20:55 am
In generall i noticed, that my map's filesizes are really huge. I tracked the problem down to my changes in the terrain.
Is there any way i can smallen the filesize of my maps afterwards? Or to generate a new terraincode, that matches my edited terrain?

although i haven't finished more than the terrain (i did many changes here, including some texturing) and the castle itself, (nothing special, only some walls, towers, houses and gates) of my map and it's already 1,3 MB large. I really could use some help here :)

here a screen of the map itself:

Lol I'm guessing you maxed out the dimensions slider... I did that the first time

I've never personally tried it, but I've heard that when you mess with dimensions after placing objects they get shifted around with it.

My take on it is live and learn... start over but have the sliders at like 1/10th of how far up they can go

That should be more than enough to make a normal map

Change the outer terrain to snow, silly.

i'm not sure if i understand u correct.
by dimensions you mean the height of the terrain and so on?
so basicly i should complete the terrain editing completly before i place any objects?

i don't get the sentence about the sliders, i'm sorry. what sliders exactly do u mean? :)
and in general, there is no way to get the map back working, i only can build it again from the start?

thx for the answer btw.

yeah, love you too ;) .
first this hasn't to do anything with my question,
second i always use a different outer terrain in development phase, cause you see the borders much more easily.
