Post by: pod455 on September 09, 2012, 04:38:49 pm
Does having light armour affect your archery?
If you, what is the best light armour for achery

Having your armor weight MORE than 10kg makes your WPF drop, so having light armour makes you faster and more accurate with the bow!

I'm not totally sure about the system, but helmets are 4 x the actual weight, gloves 2 x the actual weight, and boots 2(?) x the actual weight, while body armours weight is the one listed in the item.

Boots are x1, Body is x1, gloves are x4, and helm is x2.

People tend to use lamellar armor, so it seems like a good light armor.

Lamellar Vests are prefered as they are loomed to +5 Lordly instead of +4 Reinforced.
Byrnie is also good. you can stay below the 10 limit.

They are abit too heavy, combined with your other armor you will be somwhat over 10, but not by much if you do it right.

Ofc there are alot of people that swear by ultralight armor, they prefer to be able to move and run fast, over taking 1-2 extra hits.

Forking Miggy (archer) wears more armor (Heraldric Surcoat or something near that) than me (shield infantry, Ragged Outfit) and still busts moves.

Try wearing very light (peasant dress, monk's robe) armor with no helm, leather gloves, and very light boots. Switch to "light" armor like sarranid leather, lamellar, etc. with a helm and you will be able to feel the difference. Higher wpf helps you overcome some of the penalty.

Try to choose your equipment to have some head armour. I'm using arena helmet, and i'm able to survive hit from low ps players and in rainy weather even some headshots from weak x-bows or horse archers :)

And try to get as many body armour as you can, you will avoid one-shot deads ;P

Necroposting to save myself creating a new topic on the exact same subject:

Does your weapon count towards this 10k limit?
Where is the source on the 10k limit?

Does this limit apply to everyone, e.g. will melee's lose wpf in 1 handed for example if they wear heavy armour, or just archers? (or crossbowmen?)

How much does going over the limit decrease your wpf, is there a formula?

Edit:
Hypothetically, as an archer, the following gear would be great as it provides ok armour whilst still hitting exactly 10kg (does 10kg itself mean =0 wpf reduction, or is that when it starts, e.g. 10k=-1wpf?)
: Heavy Aketon = 6.6 + Kettle Hat with Padded Coif =(1.3x2) + Leather Boots = 0.8 for an exact total of 10

Edit, Edit: Do arrows count?

10 kg is border where you are not loosing WPF. All classes are loosing WPF points.
IMO leg armour is less important than body and head armour. It's better to nahe a bit heavier and better gloves than boots :)

The only thing that effects your WPF dropping from weight, comes from your armor.  Your weapons/equipment will slow you down, but they do not count towards the drop in WPF.

Does this limit apply to everyone, e.g. will melee's lose wpf in 1 handed for example if they wear heavy armour, or just archers? (or crossbowmen?)

Yes, this effects everyone's WPF, so plated melee will take a significant drop in WPF, I don't know the exact formula.
