Sooooooo, we are impatiently waiting for first person to retire :P
-
chadz be egotrippin'
cRPG is the most popular modification for Mount&Blade Warband. It adds persistant multiplayer and an online campaign.
-
I'm level 33, looking at the retirement page I see this:
Retirement
Be a peasant again! You will get a few bonuses to make it worthwhile.
When retiring your character will reset to level 1. You will get 3 heirloom points you can spend on any item to improve it, more experience per tick and an optional name & gender change. It does not cost any gold and you will keep all your items.
New name: Leave empty to keep the current name.
New gender: Update your ingame profile to match the new gender.
New level:1
New xp:0
Kills/Deaths:Reset to 0
Title:Veteran
Hall of Fame:Yes
Heirloom:+3 points
Generation:+1 (13)
Xp per tick:+30 (1360)

Boom, retired.
-
I wonder if there's different titles depending on what level you retire.
-
lvl 36 -> King.
I'll grind to 36 now and then I retire
-
There are, according to Harald.
-
35: Title "Grandmaster" + 8 loom points
34: Title "Master" + 5 loom points
33: Title "Veteran" + 3 loom points
32: 2 loom points
31: 1 loom point
-
24 million to level 35...
Guess I'll have to hurry if I want to become the first to retire at level 35.
-
darn it, i hit 31 and retired like an hour before this happened
-
New retirement bonuses? I hope the patch will follow soon! :D
-
boom veteran and 3rd who retired ty for 3 loompoints :3
-
I must.... Resist...
-
Just going to retire at level 32 from now on, pretty much the same xp grind for loom points and will be able to do strat battles longer.
-
Nifty new feature :)
-
Grandmaster
-
*Hits the respec button instead*
Nice features, but still not exactly worth it.
-
Hits the respec button instead

Naive
At level 32 it is certainly worth it, but at the higher levels it is rather dubious compared to a training or a respec.
-
these changes are fucking awful..nobody is ever going to retire at level 31 again if you can get 2 loompoints without having to grind through peasent time

Still getting screwed on Gen bonus though, which does lop off what, 3% of the time required? Pretty significant when we are talking an average of 71 hours or so to retire.

Unless you're gen16 or higher, then it won't matter.
Personally I love levels 1-21, though, because I love the noob server. It's 21-30 that's a pain in the ass.
-
It's a good thing this game has no fixed classes, otherwise I would be Grandmaster Swordsman which is completely absurd
-
Grandmaster
Grandmaster is another title or are you just saying that for the lols? :D

Retired today at level 31 a few minutes before this got implented. Fuck
Anyway gonna think of slightly altering my build now that 32 is the new level where everyone's gonna retire.

we had a souped up 200man server at one time

Level up in: 29,906,330

Personally I don't think the benefits out-weights the time spent, and 5 loom points does not equal the amount of time it takes to get this level. I stopped retiring because I didn't want to grind to a certain level every week to participate in some Strategus battle, or otherwise events -- back then there were plenty of initiatives such as tournaments etc -- had a full set of looms too, can't really use more than that, an alternative armor, weapon, sure but eventually there's really no need to continue grinding, just logging on to play whenever one feel like it is a much better experience, a free experience. The "side effect" of that is of course attaining a high level eventually but in no way, shape, or form, in an anywhere near timely manner, on the contrary it takes forever.
-
Cooties, do the 29 Mil XP, then retire, Grandmaster!
-
Devs actually added something to this game without taking something else away... O.O
tbh, this is a great addition. 31-32 sounds much more appealing now.
-
Everyone point and laugh at all those that retired just to get on the Hall of Fame.
-
Wow this hasn't changed when I want to retire or what my future plans are at all.
Awesome.
-
ToD beware the respec button! Once upon a time maybe a year or so ago i was lvl 32! a mighty polearmer i was! in the top 50 ranks for xp i be then i saw respec when it came out!
alas i thought i am bored of polearm ill respec to lvl 31.5 as a 2h! shame on me for i made a drastic mistake!! 6 shield skill instead of powerstrike! oh how sad i felt. I went to irc and was told no chance of a free respec so i had to retire :( Let this be a lesson to ye wanabee respecers :D i could have been lvl 35 by now :(

I've heard more then a few horror stories about similar stories, I literally spent 8 minutes scrutinizing and re-reading my choices before hitting submit two days ago, hahaha
-
wanabee respecers
i respecced 4 times or more, twice from 34 iirc, the other times from at least 33, once from 32. all polearm cav. just to find out my first build was the best by far. who is the wannabe now ^^
-
i respecced like 100 times or more thats i didnt respec at a high lvl but still a waste of xp like hell

What's your build and what builds did you try out that didn't work as well? :)
-

I think he is sporting the same build as me atm... Right Torben? 18/21?
-
Meh. Heirlooms are worthless for me, and I don't really care if I have my name on the hall of fame.
And I really dislike levelling. It's why I stopped retiring.
-
i retired and after like 1 h i am at level 21 and it is enough to kill some people.
-
Stop retiring you fools, this is what they want. Keep your high lvl instead and threaten devs to insta pwn peasants unless they add more cool stuff for high lvl retirement.

Character progress? 8-)

Wish it gave me a bunch of generation levels, too. Not going to level up at gen 4.

thats it... +1

While it's nice for higher level to get more heirloom, I still think it would be better to get 1 heirloom per 8,735,843 xp you have.
-
Title: Grandmaster
Hall of Fame: Yes

I think I'll hold off.

Haha Canary, if you were gen 16+ maybe, but that's not worth the time. :D
-

Also, being gen 1 is awesome.
-
GEN 7 = LUCKY GEN MOFUGGA
and guess what, I seem to have given away all my looms.
-
Highest Veteran xp-wise and suckiest stats in dueling, reliability and performance, eat that scumbags!
youtheman!
-
I just hit 33 not too long ago. I started playing even less after that, not gen 16, only a fully loomed body armor and weapon so the trade-off isn't really worth it, especially because I don't play as often as I used to.
Maybe I would consider it if there were more than three titles, maybe more denominations within. I want to be a beautiful unique snowflake like everyone else, not just one of several veterans. You could make them like silly collectables depending on the exp and the new progress chart or something.
-
Omg someone just retired from lvl 34!!!

I'm having the same reason... Just cba to grind anymore. I have +3 horse, +3 heavy lance, +3 long war axe and +3 light kuyak... Still could loom my helmet, gloves and boots but I just don't see the point anymore.
-
Cant wait till a shitload of people get the announcement and i will be forced to play mute because of the purple spam :) funny update though very useless.
-
You must own a fief in strategus to be able to use that Titel I guess, so thats pretty useless I think.
But I like the idea of getting more loompoints for higher leveled chars.
-
The purple title spam is quite annoying already and this will make it even worse.
I suggest it gets removed and replaced by something else. Maybe some icon next to the name in the scoreboard.
-
Imagine stategus battles : We can fill the full time waiting for the battle to start with purple text for "important" persons joining the server
-
i should have never retire whern i was 34 3/4 to 35 :(
nice implenment too will make people retire more now :)
-

It does work regardless of fief ownership.
-
I still won't retire for 8 loompoints and the title of Grandmaster, but I think I should get a title for just being level 35 and gen. 1 :d

Hasn't Canary done that before?

Hasn't Canary done that before?
Yes, he still is.

With all the level <33 retiring and the >34 not retiring the imbalance gets even worse..... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
DEVS... what have you done?

Makes my life easier, having a post-level-30 shielder with 8PS and 6 Athl is bliss-easy with a MW Warhammer against pre-level-30 characters.

5 Loompoints for 81 million exp? How about NO?
-
5 Loompoints for 81 million exp? How about NO?
You are aware that is 1 loompoint for every 2gens, right? That is somewhat fair, sure people don't want it, but, if you're tired of your build, and don't wanna lose 40,5mil respecing, and can't afford a free respec, the devs give you the option to retire and gain SOMETHING more than just 1 loompoint, it's meant to get people to retire who don't wanna play with their build anymore but are highleveled bitches, it's not meant to enforce people to retire or have particularly amazing and awesome benefits.
-
I retired 3 days ago at 6 million away from 33, and I would do it again. Fuck being a peasant.
-
hmmm, 34 million to lvl 34, what to do?
-
GRANDMASTER, what retarded title, i think i will pass this one.. still at 35..
-

Well, i thought out my build very well, so there has to be something really magnificant to get me to retire. Plus, i started go high-lvl after i had enough looms, i really don't need more looms.
I thought this whole thing was to get people to retire, not gonna happen with looms and a fancy title.

Maybe not for u, but a few people alrdy did :P. I dont personally think its worth it either, but it might be for some.
Atleast u get something out of retireting at a high lvl.

HALL OF LAME more like

I don't disagree that it's a good thing for guys who are not happy with their build, but as i said, i thought this whole thing was there to stop the high-lvl-madness...i don't think it will.
-
Can't it just be for people who wanted to retire for a long time, but felt they couldn't because they would get nothing for all that time spent over lvl 31? It doesn't need to be for people that are happy with not retiring anymore. We don't want people to feel that they have to retire in order to not lose out..some people just want to play the game without feeling they're grinding past parts of it or doing it just for more gear etc.
-

I don't think it's a good idea to start giving enormous bonuses for high level retirement right away. Better lure those that want to retire first, then slowly increase the gifts to get more people to do it without giving tons of LP.
-

Maybe, but most high lvl's went gen16 before stopping retiring, and with 15 looms you can have: Helmet, armour, greaves, gloves and a shiney weapon. Many high levels have also had plenty of gold to shop with, so a shield, a crossbow, bolts. Who needs more than that?
The incentive to go high level will always be more than that for looms, I BELIEVE anyway, since once you have a set theres no point in NOT being as effective a char as possible, and even lvl 32 is a massive advantage, thats 6 skillpoints, you could make your hoplite a lancer, or your 2hander a 18/24 build with so much more surviveability.

tome to grind to 35 :D

I never duel, for I find the point system
retarded to be not my cup of tea. Plenty of unofficial servers for me to practice dueling with my character, or simply go native for that.

I would retire, but I haven't thought of a cool name yet...
-
wow lvl 32 is the only one that makes sense. i retired at lvl 34 for 5 heirloom points, what a rip off.
-
I did it for the title, the loom points were just a bonus.
-

The only effective way to protest something besides giving audio/text feedback is to not use or interact with the thing you are protesting. Yes, I care, and honestly I don't even need to expend any additional effort to not use the duel server so it has cost me literally nothing.
With wins/losses the amount of people who facehug/other"prohibited"behavior at the start has significantly increased anyways, which eliminates the purpose of the duel server anyways to actually practice dueling and improve personal skill. In private servers or Native it is much more relaxed a mentality where you can focus on your skills or just try things for fun.

I retired 30% of the way through level 34 but this was before this feature got added. What a pity.
-
You're also permabanned.
-
Nice add. Pretty close to what I've suggested 1 month ago to favour epeen instead of power.
-
funny that it is possible to get to Hall of fame for permabanned characters (thou for leeching too, making their high lvls not fair earned).
Making Hall of Fame very ... senseless.

Simple solution - if they get banned for leeching a certain number of times, remove their entry from the HoF.

there are PERMAbanned guys in hall of fame.
how you can be PERMAbanned several times lol?
-
So who's permabanned in the HoF?
-
Grandmaster.
There is only one, so it will be not hard to find exact nick. :D
-
how you can be PERMAbanned several times lol?
It was an example - it should also include permaban as a reason to remove you from the HoF. Don't be so pedantic.
But, Panos was Permabanned twice, thus more than once, so several.
-
how you can be PERMAbanned several times lol?
New key?
-
How can you even bother to retire at 35?
35 = 180,977,644 XP. Which is around 20 heirloom points if you would have retired. Instead you get 8 hp's and a silly title.

thats why the only one Grandmaster in list - is permabanned player, who cant use his character any other way, and who was banned for using exploits which allowed him to make this 35 lvl in few days.
Nothing personal to him, I didnt even want to say his nick, just angry about the opportunity to get to hall of fame for banned players.
silly situation, which making this "hall of fame" more like "list of outlaws and bug-exploiters" ...
I dont wish to retire my high lvl to be in such list.
-
Well if you click his name it says "deceased" in there
-
hm, yes. not bad, but still there shouldnt be permabanned players in list. at least who were banned exactly for exploting/leeching to grind high lvl.
IMHO.
-
Need "Hall of Shame" and move nubs over there.

Whole thing is Hall of Lame, just /ignore

Considering the amount of bad puns on the name here's mine, it took me 30 minutes of hard work to come up with.
Hall of Gaym, as in excessively.
There's so many layers it just blows your mind.
-
I dont get why there is even a hall of fame. Retiring is harder than not retiring
-
I dont get why there is even a hall of fame. Retiring is harder than not retiring
Because you spend a lot of time (for lvl 35 ~20 generations) without gaining any reward besides your level.
You basicly lose the opportunity to retire all the time and make a lot of money. I know, now you can do this on your alts, but many people want to play on their main, especially considering gen bonus.
-
not working as intended?
-
i joined this Hall of Ners yesterday :D
just dont see the sense of grinding 35 lvl, its too long, and no bonuses on the way to it. and all useful i could get there is +1 ironflesh.
though for specific classes like horse archers levels mean very much, but for lancer - 32 or 34 not much difference.
And more then that, i expect so much cool games this autumn and winter, that it's really time for me to "retire" )
-
off-topic:
-
I dunno if these games are interested for millions of gamers, but they are interesting to me)
War of the Roses, Torchlight II, Worms Revolution, Eador: Masters of the Broken World, Hitman Absolution, Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, Elemental: Fallen Enchantress, Inquisitor, Legends of Eisenwald, Starbound, Age of Decadance.
And i hope that maybe M&B2 Alpha or beta or at least good news. :D

War of the Roses
Don't get your hopes up.
