Title: Need some help from German players
Post by: Felix on August 31, 2012, 10:59:03 am
Hey guys. I am currently writing a short story about a guy from BKA investigating a planning terroristic attack. So i'd like to ask some help from someone who actually lives in Germany (Hamburg, Berlin and other big cities) or/and familiar with German Police system. I want to make a realistic-looking story. There are some questions:

1) What city should i choose? I thought about picking Hamburg
2) What kind of location would terrorists go for? Like lot of people and low security?
3) Can a person of non-germanic origin work in police structure (in our case - BKA) (like immigrant from other European country)?

That's it for now, i will add some more after i actually plan the plot.

Hamburg is a good pick,
Google Hamburg Bunker and Check out if that Party location would suit your story, its quite unique and large.

And ya, you dont have to be born in germany to be a bka Agent.

Hamburg Bunker is a museum, right? I need something more open. Like a local sightseeing or tourist site, with bunch of people visiting it every day and with no way to control the things, if they'd go wild (for example bunch of people are gathering for flashmob, then a fire starts, mass panic, police can't do a shit and there goes a boom)
Okey, then i will stick with Hamburg.

And what about other nationality? Like can a turkish man become a BKA agent? Or asian?

BTW there's one more question, there are a lot of immigrants from Asia coming to Germany, right? Is that a problem for locals? How can you describe the overall attitude towards them? Are they more prone to commit crimes or something like that?

as terrorist I would pick a big fair (we call it Kirmes), there are no security checks, mostly germans and a lot of them.. there is police of course, but they wont control anyone unless they behave strange. Almost every german city has a fair once a year, the bigger the city the bigger the fair^^

carneval in cologne might be interesting aswell.

I am participating a literature contest )

More questions to come: what's your typical turkish/arab immigrant? Do they learn german language, culture etc? Have low pay jobs? Big families? Living in some kind of ghetto?

Carneval in cologne would be a good choice, masses of drunken people who only think of alcohol and parties, "western decadence" at it's finest... If I was a terrorist I would definitely choose it for a terroristic attack.

edit: some have a job but a low payd one, or getting that social help ,  many just hang around streets to start fights with germans which is also just more retarded

We have many well integrated muslims in germany. As always, the few black sheep stand out and make a Bad Name for the whole populus.
The guys that are of greater interest to you as an author, are not the primitive muslims with antiquary views, but the misled, maybe even intelectual youth that might become the prey of fanatic religious leaders.

You gave me another nice idea here - i decided to make one of characters the misled young snobby turkish young man. Maybe not that young, but misled for sure.

I will start writing tomorrow. Unfortunately you won't be able to read it cause i will be writing in Russian) Though i will continue consulting with you guys when i get to specific parts that involves Germany. Thank you all.

Well, it doesn't start up anything serious. It's more of a mystique/thriller thing.

Okey, i got the plot. You guys were great help. BTW have any of you made some kinda research on BKA? Like for university or school, or you just happen to know something about BKA? As someone mentioned, any man can join BKA, given he has proper documents. The thing is, i want our guy (main hero) to be a big shot from BKA, but suddenly his new young (and not so stupid) partner finds out that he cheated/or falsified documents when he was enlisting for BKA and it becomes, of course, a threat for main hero. So i am not really familiar with law system in Germany or BKA, can someone help me to simulate the situtation? THe main guy has non germanic origin, say, he is Czech, emigrated early with his family, but got his german passport like prior to applying into BKA. So what kind of problem could he possibly meat? Expired visa? False passport? (events occur in somewhere 2000, he has been working at BKA for like 10 years, so that makes him enlisting into BKA at around 90-ies). I am not really confident in my knowledge, cause there was Berlin wall and unification of Germany - it was a big deal, so it must have some influence on the story here. Help me

his family fled the eastern block prior to  its demise,  and used false papers back then. he still was a child,  and thought he actually is his fathers son,  but it turns out that his "uncle"is his real father,  who himslef did crimes against humanity or was an arms dealer or whatnot. that armsdealer now supplies terrorists with former ussr weaponary.  dumdumduuuum.
