Title: How fast can you retire?
Post by: Mogh on August 30, 2012, 07:21:03 pm
I've been playing cRPG for over a year now and have not yet retired a character. Granted I have an alt or two and have respecced once or twice... but I see people that are on like gen 20 and above, how the hell is that possible? I mean, nobody can stay at x5 24/7, gotta sleep some time right?

What's the quickest time to retirement you've seen?

Every time you retire you gain experience 3% faster.  So on x1 your first generation, you have 1000 experience a tick, x2 is 2000, x3 3000, x4 4000, x5 5000.  At gen 2 it goes 1030, 2060, 3090, 4120, 5150.

Im into my 11th gen and my x5 XP is 6650 every tick.  This keeps doing this until you hit get gen 16 then your XP bonus stops going up.

When I was early on in my generations I was able to retire within about 3 weeks of playing about 12 hours a week (maybe closer to 15).  It also greatly helps if you are able to get into some large strategus battles.  Some of the larger strategus battles will give 750,000 - 1,000,000+ XP for an hour and a half of fighting.  On average, the 1500 man sieges in strategus usually give at least 400,000, and up to 750,000'ish XP.  You can retire very quickly like this.

yeah that's probably what's slowed me down, I haven't gotten into Strat at all. I'd like to hook up with a clan and do battles but between work and kids I can't hold any sort of schedule or anything. I'm lucky to get two hours to play on any given evening. I usually get an hour most days.

Good lord. I assume IV feeding and a catheter?

Anybody know any clans that are part-timer friendly?

I am usually able to retire after two weeks of casual gameplay / 2 days of HC grinding. Full xp bonus.
Also, with new valor, if you do good on lvl 20+, you get multi quite often, this speeds things up too.

What would you guys consider casual gameplay? 2 hours a day? 4?

For me casual is like 3-7 hours per day. HC means 14+. But mind you, i am employed guy, so after the work i dont have anything to do. I go to visit my girl like 7days in month, the rest i can play

i think alot of these folks consider "casual" to be everyday for a few hours a day.... me and 3 other started about 5 weeks ago and are all on our 3rd loom. We typically play 2-3 hours 3-5 days a week.

Wow, I wish I could play 14 hours in a day  Pretty sure the wife would torch my PC if I tried something like that.

Free Peasants of Fisdnar is casual friendly and they end up in lots of Strategus battles.  In fact, a large amount of people associated with the FPF aren't technically in the clan.  They welcome independent players who just want to work with a larger organization from time to time.  So you can be involved at whatever level you want to be or have time for.

When you spawn in the NA side of Strategus just head toward the northeast corner of the map and contact ArysOakheart.  The FPF currently holds the city of Rivacheg and of course Fisdnar.

That sounds pretty cool, thanks for the heads up!

Depends really, if we have people on we just play waht everyone wants. Typically if im alone ill mess around on siege, and if i get stuck at a x1 for a bit ill just go duel.... Siege more than anything tho.

For a while I was retiring once a week Sometimes as low as 3-4 days.

For me mostly battle, siege is high competition on valor, and i hate the chokepoints getting owned by two maulers...but sometimes i go to siege aswell.

I hear rageball is good for getting XP quickly. Any idea how it compares to battle or siege? I hear DTV is like the worst in that respect.

Only done DTV and rageball a hand full of times.

Amateurs... i played crpg 12 hours a day,and i grinded one gen per week.
That tempo is pretty hard so i stopped playing that much. Now i can't finish mine 12 or it is 13th gen.
Crpg become booring. Barely play 2 hours a day.

Amateur, you burned yourself out on a great game.

Pace yourself next time, you may be able to enjoy your next great game for much longer.

"Casual" actually rather means playing non-competetive (means no clan matches, actively playing Strat or active clan training, anything competetive, looking for becoming the best) and only playing for fun. That could mean 24/7 though. :P
Or you see "casual" as playing the game whenever you have time (in that case rarely), like an hour a week or similar.

But once a day, isn't rarely. :P

My shortest time to retire was 4 days. I played too much. After that I really reduced my gaming time in total. But a retirement in 1 - 2 weeks is no problem with 3 - 4 hours a day. always x1 is wasted time if you aim to retire quickly.

Yeah, naturally I only seem to be able to achieve and maintain x5 right before it's time to shut down for the night.

Think my best is in a month, but I spent a lot of my time duelling and I hate playing this game as a lvl 20-29 so progress is slow during those levels. I hate retiring anyhow.

Back when I was in the good ol' days of between exams-finished and full-time-work-starting, I pulled off a two-day generation, and a couple more at one generation a week.

I learned nothing.

Take your time, soak up the skill.  Play like a learning human being, not a mindless shamble-forward zombie.

Even on gen 12 it still takes me a little over a month to retire and I feel like I play this game religiously.

Heehee, is a year on one gen taking enough time  :P My main is level 28 now, so close to looming I can almost taste it.

well, lvl 31 you need same xp you needed 1-30, so not that close  8-) on lvl 28, you still need like 5+ million XP.

I've been playing for about two months and I just retired for the first time. 1-30 was a ton of fun learning the game, but it seemed like it took forever. Once I hit 30, I started trying to play more and power through it and did it in about half the time as it took for me to 1-30, but it was not as much fun. I think this is so because I was too focused on the financial side of the game and wasn't just playing for fun. That's what really matters right?

Level 30 is where the fun begins IMO. You finally have your finished build. Levels 20ish-29 (specifically 20-27ish) are the worst, since you aren't a peasant and expecting to die, but you are low enough that you can't compete at your maximum level. This is even worse for archers and agi builds. Not really as bad if you are just a str build though.

edit: although the last 500k-1mil is pretty terrible. So close and yet so far!

Normally? About a month, more if alts distract me (Spoiler: they do).

When I get to be in 3 strat sieges a day? Twice a week.

Post by: Mogh on August 31, 2012, 07:25:21 pm
Yup, I gotta get into strat. I keep getting distracted by alts as well... "ooh that might be a fun build" (play for a month) "well, maybe this will be fun too!" (play for another month) etc etc

I'd probably retire every 2-3 months, but I quit retiring because I can't be bothered with peasanting.

Sometimes it's fun. Pitchfork or thrown rock kills can be pretty satisfying.
