I read in the comments that there is a mod that does basically this, allthough i am not sure of this at all.
I dont play skyrim anymore, didnt like it at all since they said they would make combat more interesting but it was still piss-poor like oblivions, but seriously a DLC only to make you build houses? hmm..

Yes there is, and I can bet it has only minor downsides compared to this coming DLC. Anyway, house mods where already ultra popular in the past three TES, and if you look around you'll see mods for Oblivion and Morrowind are still being developped, so there's still plenty of time for Skyrim modders to create the housing mod you like, all in all I wouldn't bother paying for that.

if people stick to this logic, then we wont get mod tools for future games at all. already that seems largely the case.

fact is this dlc is pretty fucking weak, no way would I buy it. but its bound to be better quality than the mods.

but yeah bethesda should be focusing on content modders cant make like serious gamengine changes, new weapon types/animations, new storylines etc.
