For my next gen, I want to be a heavy cav lancer. Est. cost would be 50k to 80k (Total Cost Of Items, Not Repairs).
would that last me all the way to 31?

Depends if you roll a constant x5.
I come up even, myself. But in a bad streak, you could lose almost 10k in maybe half an hour.
500k should last you the generation, but don't quote me on that. I don't retire anymore.

My horse setup costs 79k. It breaks even on a x5, but over the course of a few hours would lose ~10-30k if I constantly use that gear loadout. I go on foot to balance it out overall.
If you go on foot for maps that aren't obvious cav maps in medium gear, you could break even or slightly lose money overall. Over the course of a gen, maybe 100k if you aren't used to it.

Depends on what you mean by heavy. Chargers are 3k+ in repairs as high as 5k I believe. Destriers on the other hand are 1.5k for repairs and have pretty good HP and speed.
Anyways a gen, maybe two tops would probably be all you'd get out. Atleast you would still be accumulating loom points overtime. To save money you could probably get away with not using head armor since its generally out of reach - although when you're dehorsed you would be in trouble.

I lost like 12k per 1 hour with wearing medium armor and carring a 2h. I started wearing light armor and I gained alot of cash and the increased speed from low weight gave me an edge over tincans.
Huge problem with cav is that its a massive moneyeater. Only go cav when you rich. Cause the lancercav class is a very easy class to play and the moneyeating is the only thing that balances it(also a bit of HA and HC).

My gear loadout is just under 60k, and I was losing about 50-60k per generation on average. But it can fluctuate very wildly. For instance I might lose 20k in an hour or two of playing, or break even (or slightly down) after playing a 6 hour session.
