How much PS is required to be effective with mallet(non-loomed)?
-
14

I can't tell you for sure...and you probably already know, but the more powerstrike and strength you have, the better your chance at crushthrough. I think the weight of the weapon you have, vs the weapon the other guy has is more important than the str/ps you have, vs the str/ps he has though. I've heard of 15/27 builds using mallets and being very effective. I assume you'd stil

Impossible cause Mallet difficulty is 16
I think you need at least 21 str to crushthrough pretty often

7PS will crushthrough most stuff most of the time. Not that it matters, most people will not block when you overhead with it anyway
-
At least 7 PS to be effective against all but heavy weapon, or 8 PS To crush through everything.
-
7 will often bounce on heavier shields and weapons. 8 is minimum for GOOD use. 10 or more is ideal
-
Well, with 7 PS I could crush most of shields and weapons but not huscarl and steel shelds, the same goes for heavier weapons, so I decided to go for 9 PS.

If I had a MW mallet, I would do this:
Level 30 (4 420 577 xp)
Strength: 16
Agility: 24
Hit points: 51
Skills to attributes: 10
Ironflesh: 0
Power Strike: 5
Shield: 0
Athletics: 8
Riding: 0
Horse Archery: 0
Power Draw: 0
Power Throw: 0
Weapon Master: 8
One Handed: 1
Two Handed: 173
Polearm: 1
Archery: 1
Crossbow: 1
Throwing: 1
but I don't have one, so I'd do 21/18 or more strength. THe increased weight and base damage form MW helps a lot.
